Wu Tanran's "Chinese Dream" dates back to 20 years ago. When he was 5 years old, he came into contact with Chinese language at the home of Chinese American classmates. He was very interested in history and was attracted by Chinese children's comic book , and was eager to understand the meaning of the book. With the help of his classmate's mother, he entered the Chinese study class and persisted until he graduated from high school. "It is through learning Chinese that I began to learn Chinese history. More importantly, I learned about the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Revolution and Mao Zedong Thought." Wu Tanran introduced that in 2012, he came to China for the first time at the age of 15. His first stop was to Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and Tiananmen Square . "July in Beijing was very hot. I queued for nearly two hours and finally saw the statue of Chairman Mao. I was very excited and bowed to the statue of Chairman Mao to express my admiration. More importantly, I experienced another social system, which strengthened the Marxist-Leninist and communist belief that I had developed before." After returning to the United States, through continuous learning, on the second day after my 18th birthday, he submitted an application for joining the party and then became a Communist Party member.
The first trip to Beijing left a deep and beautiful impression on him. By saving money through working, Wu Tanran came to China again in 2014. "After just two years, many places are different. Just like the first time I came to Beijing, I felt like I was sleepwalking in , for fear of waking up and being in the United States again." Out of a yearning for China, Wu Tanran came to China to study in 2016. In more than six years of study and life, he has gone to many cities in China, experienced China's achievements in science and technology and economic development, and felt the people's confidence in a better life.
