The reason is actually very simple. It can make money and manage finances; 31 million Swiss francs are the principal, and the interest generated by the principal and the income obtained from investment are the source of the Nobel Prize.
According to Nobel's will, this estate can only be used for bank deposits or bond investments at first, but the investment returns are very low, only 2% to 3%. Therefore, the annual income of Nobel Foundation in the early stage is about 600,000 to 900,000 yuan. After deducting the daily expenses of some foundations, the money used to award awards is only about 500,000 to 800,000 yuan each time, and a large amount of money has to be given to the country.
By 1953, 2/3 of the assets of the Nobel Foundation had been lost. Seeing the Nobel Fund disappearing, the Swedish government agreed to the foundation to invest in products with higher returns. With the government as its backer, Nobel Fund began to make large investments around the world. In 1987, the total asset market value reached 1.287 billion, and by 1999, the total asset market value of the Nobel Foundation was as high as 3.938 billion. So until now, not only did Nobel's legacy not spend all the bonuses, but the amount continued to rise.
