Shangcai , why does this martyr,
have no descendants?
This is a martyr certificate that has been preserved for 39 years. Although it is a bit worn, the handwriting can still be seen clearly.
says:
"Comrade Zhang Kuan died heroically in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea and was approved as a revolutionary martyr. This certificate was specially issued to commend him.
Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China (official seal)
April 18, 1983 "

This martyr certificate was issued to Zhang Kuan's aunt by the Shangcai County Civil Affairs Bureau in 1983. Because Zhang Kuan's parents died when he was a child, he was raised by his aunt until he joined the army. He is his aunt's adopted son, so his aunt also enjoys the treatment of a martyr. His aunt's name is Xu Yulan, who died in 2002 at the age of 84. This martyr certificate is like a family heirloom, and after his aunt passed it to the next generation. Although his aunt's next generation cannot enjoy the treatment of a martyr, she is still proud and proud in spirit!
Zhang Kuanβs hometown is Shuangzhangzhuang, Yiliuwang Village Committee, Zhuhu Town. Zhang Kuan was born in 1926, joined the army in 1949 (23 years old), and died in 1951 (25 years old).

On June 25, 1950, the Korean War broke out. US imperialism gathered UN forces and burned the war to the side of Yalu River, posing a serious threat to the New China. On October 25, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army crossed the Yalu River with great confidence, resisted the United States and aided Korea, and defended the country.
Zhang Kuan's troops are: the 5th Company of the 580th Regiment of the 194th Division of the 65th Army, and was incorporated into the 19th Corps of the Volunteer Army. The commander of the Corps is Yang Dezhi.
During the more than two years of fighting in North Korea, the 65th Army carried out more than 380 battles of all sizes and sizes, killing and wounding 23,552 enemies, and capturing 471 people below the lieutenant colonels of the enemy US, British and Korean troops; shooting down 113 enemy planes and injuring 335; destroying 262 tanks and injuring 84, and many heroic children emerged.
The famous writer Ba Jin experienced life in the 65th Army and created the novel "Reunion", which was later adapted into the well-known movie "Heroic Sons and Daughters". In "Heroic Sons and Daughters", Wang Cheng shouted "Fire at me!" and the interlude in "Heroic Sons and Daughters" " Heroic Singer " spread throughout the country.
Henan writer Wei Wei , 6 years older than Zhang Kuan, and his parents died since childhood. In 1951, he was sent to the Korean battlefield for an interview and wrote an article "Host of the Loveliest Man ", which was published in "Hot of the People's Daily ", and later selected it into a middle school Chinese textbook. He wrote in the article: "The martyrs' bodies are in various postures, some hugging the enemy's waist, some hugging the enemy's head, some jammed the enemy's neck, and those who knocked the enemy to the ground, fell together with the enemy and burned together. There was also a soldier who held an grenade in his hand, and the bullet was covered with brains. The American devils who died with him had a broken brain and smeared all over the floor. There was another soldier who held half of the enemy's ears in his mouth. When burying the bodies of the martyrs, they held the enemy so tightly that they could not separate them, so that they broke some fingers."
From the works of two famous writers, Ba Jin and Wei Wei, we seemed to see Zhang Kuan's heroic figure of death with the American devils on the Korean battlefield.
The remains of martyr Zhang Kuan are still buried in the No. 8 Tomb of the Kaesong Volunteer Army Martyrs Cemetery, North Korea. Like the martyr Mao Anying, he stayed in a foreign land.
If Zhang Kuan lived until now, he would be 96 years old. He can have a lot of children and grandchildren, he can enjoy the peaceful sunshine and spend his happy old age in Cai Mingyuan .
From joining the army at the age of 23 to dying at the age of 25, Zhang Kuan has never been married, so he has no offspring. But the thousands of children wearing red scarves in Shangcai County are like his descendants, inheriting his heroic spirit of defending the country, and are always ready to defend the stability and peace of the New China and the sacred territory of the motherland!
