In October 1976, something very pleasing happened. The "Gang of Four" was shattered in one fell swoop. After the news came out, the whole country celebrated. Since then, the trial of the main culprits of the "Gang of Four" has always attracted attention, especially the trial of Jiang Qing. So what crimes did Jiang Qing commit?
Jiang Qing is one of the main culprits of the "Gang of Four". The crimes she committed can be said to be endless. Let's briefly list her three crimes so that people can understand her crimes. During the entire trial, Jiang Qing's attitude was always arrogant and uncooperative.
If you have a little understanding of Jiang Qing, you will know that she has committed many crimes. The first one listed is to frame others. Jiang Qing has many people framed her, and she even didn't let her staff go. Among the staff around Jiang Qing, many of them were sent to prison by her.
Among them, her first confidential secretary, Yan Changgui, was framed and imprisoned by Jiang Qing. According to the "A Collection of Questions about History and Seeking Letters" written by Yan Changgui in his later years, Yan Changgui came to Jiang Qing to work in January 1967 and served as a full-time secretary, responsible for handling letters and documents.
At that time, Jiang Qing had to receive thousands of letters and documents every day. Yan Changgui took the lead in forming a letter group to screen out the documents and letters that Jiang Qing needed to handle personally. Jiang Qing specially told Yan Changgui that he could only listen to her words and not others' words.
Yan Changgui kept in mind Jiang Qing's advice and did his best in everything. Although he was scolded by Jiang Qing during this period, he generally satisfies Jiang Qing. Unexpectedly, one day Yan Changgui found a letter that the person who wrote the letter was an actress, once also named Jiang Qing. The purpose of writing the letter was to get Jiang Qing's help and avoid the impact.
Yan Changgui thought Jiang Qing knew this actress, so he sent the letter to Jiang Qing for processing himself. He also wrote a small note to attach it, indicating that the person who wrote the letter was also called Jiang Qing. Unexpectedly, Jiang Qing was very angry after reading the letter, and scolded Yan Changgui at that time. Not long after, Yan Changgui was detained.
At that time, the charge of Yan Changgui was "trying to frame comrades with false materials". Yan Changgui was detained for 7 and a half years, and was not released until May 1975. In September 1979, Yan Changgui was completely rehabilitated. In addition, there were staff members who took care of Jiang Qing's food and daily life, and some were framed and detained by Jiang Qing.
Jiang Qing’s second point is that Jiang Qing used his identity to restrain a lot of cultural relics. In the special decade, the Beijing Cultural Relics Management Office stored many confiscated cultural relics. Jiang Qing often went there and picked out all kinds of good cultural relics. The cultural relics she liked were taken away at will, and she gave some money to take them away. To the outside world, it was said that it was a cultural hobby.
Jiang Qing's third crime is to be vain and waste money. In July 1971, Jiang Qing planned to go to Qingdao to visit. In order to facilitate her, she directly transferred a special train to Qingdao, which caused a huge waste of manpower and material resources. When she returned to Beijing, she transferred a special plane to send her, causing a great waste.
Of course, Jiang Qing's crimes are far more than these, and there are many people framed by her, so it is difficult to describe them one by one. Fortunately, the "Gang of Four" was shattered and Jiang Qing was tried. It is worth mentioning that during the trial, Jiang Qing was arrogant and uncooperative. Before each time she appeared in court, she asked herself to wash and dress neatly.
This is something she must do before appearing in court. After going to court, Jiang Qing would sometimes deliberately interrupt the trial process, attempt to get away with it, and be cautious about the trial of Jiang Qing and others. It was not until 1981 that the verdict was made. Jiang Qing was sentenced to death with two years of probation, and was later reduced to life imprisonment according to law.
