Old Baiyun Airport began construction in 1932. On August 29, 1963, Baiyun Airport opened China's first international route, Dhaka - Shanghai - Guangzhou - Dhaka.
"East, west, south, north, middle, and wealth to Guangdong". As the wave of reform and opening up swept across Guangdong, Baiyun Airport in 1994 became the first airport in China with a passenger throughput exceeding 10 million.
However, with the rapid expansion of Guangzhou city, the old Baiyun Airport has been included in the urban area, and the airport location needs to be relocated.
The new airport was opened in 2004, and its name changed from the original Advertising State Baiyun Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
At 10:50 pm on August 4, 2004, as the CZ3265 flight full of more than a hundred passengers took off, the mission of the old airport was also announced to be over.
In April 2018, the expanded terminal 2 of the new Baiyun Airport was officially put into use. The new Baiyun Airport achieved a passenger throughput of nearly 70 million people and cargo and postal volume of nearly 1.9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of about 6%.
