1952 Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, The Department of Aeronautical Engineering of Nanjing University was established as East China Aviation College. East China University of Aeronautics moved to Xi'an in 1956 and was renamed Xi'an Aviation University. In 1957, Northwestern Polytechnical University and Xi'an Aviation University merged to form Northwestern Polytechnical University. Northwestern Polytechnical University currently has 27 colleges and 74 undergraduate majors.
