A few days ago, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the "Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products" and the "Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products". Starting from November 27, 2020, some imported Model X vehicles with a production date between March 16, 2016 and July 31, 2016 will be recalled, totaling 870 vehicles.
The vehicles within the scope of this recall use adhesive glue to install the front roof trim and the middle trim to the top of the vehicle. At the same time, a primer is required to increase the adhesion between the two. Because the primer on the surface of the roof trim of some vehicles may be insufficient, the adhesion of the trim may be weakened over time, and the trim may fall off the vehicle in extreme cases.
If the veneer falls off the vehicle while driving, it will increase the risk of collision or injury to the rear vehicle on the road, especially the motorcycle, posing a safety hazard.
Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will inspect vehicles within the recall range for free and implement a tensile test on the roof trim. If the test is passed, the primer is sufficient and no further operations are required; if the test fails, it will Reinstall the roof trim to eliminate safety hazards.
Emergency measures: Before the vehicle is recalled for repair, the owner should drive the vehicle carefully, and contact the service center as soon as possible after the recall begins.
This is not Tesla's first recall. A month ago, Tesla recalled about 30,000 vehicles in China due to potential suspension problems, but Tesla later claimed that this was caused by the driver's improper driving of the vehicle, and the vehicle had no defects.
