Master Chengxin
Master Chengxin, a very ordinary monk, she is short, over 60 years old, with gray hair, and has been practicing asceticism for twenty years. She wears patchwork robes , eats leftover water, huddles, huddles, hiking at the foot of the mountain, traveling thousands of miles, pricking blood and writing scriptures, and spares life.
This monk with a firm heart, full of faith, charitable face, pure and free and easy face is the abbot of Huayan Temple - Master Chengxin.
1990, Master Chengxin became a monk at Xinglong Temple in Changchun. Her fate of becoming a monk was very simple, just because of a master's words:
"I am old and there are too few people in the temple. Can you become a monk and take care of me?"
Master Chengxin was in his forties at that time and had not yet established a family. Perhaps because of the deep Buddhist relationship in his previous life, she saw the master she admired with a crying plea, she agreed without thinking.
When she cut off three thousand worries and accepted the bowing of everyone, she was mixed with emotion: From then on, she was a nun who cared for the family business of Tathagata. Can she not seek happiness for herself, but only for sentient beings to be free from suffering?
She made a vow: Seek blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! She wants to practice asceticism, practice and work hard, repay the four levels of kindness, and help the sufferings of the three paths.
, she loves beauty, took off her favorite outfit from the day she put on the monk's robe. In order to eliminate greed and stay away from her attachment to material life, she insisted on wearing patchwork clothes. She wore them all year round, no matter how hot and cold, regardless of the heat and cold. This outfit lasted for more than ten years.
Walking on the street, pedestrians who were unknown on the road regarded her as a beggar, covering her nose and hurriedly passing with a sarcastic look.
patchwork cloak, also used as "defer sweeping clothes". It refers to the monk's robes that were washed and sewn by ordinary people or scattered in garbage dumps and cemeteries.
The monks wear feces and sweeping clothes, which is the way of practice that the Buddha praised. The monk used feces to sweep his clothes as his cassock, which was the most special and respected.
Ascetic practice, the journey of worshiping mountains is more than 35,000 kilometers, and is known as "Pastor Master"
in Huadian , including the disciples of Huayan Temple, "Pastor Master" are all known, but the name of Master Chengxin is little known.
This is because with her thin body, she is over 50 years old, she hikes to Wutai Mountain , Emei Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, Putuo Mountain, Xuedou Mountain , and Jizu Mountain .
knocked three times along the way, sleeping in the wind, and the forehead repeatedly knocked, forming scabs, and blood blisters were grinding all the hands and feet, and many pairs of shoes were worn out.
Some people don’t understand: Now that the transportation is so developed, why do you have to worship Buddha in such a primitive way to the mountains? Don’t those who study Buddhism know how to enjoy and insist on self-abuse?
Toutu, translated as "shaking", means to cheer up and make progress, and Toututu is to practice asceticism.
In 1998, when Master Chengxin was studying the " Nirvana Sutra ", he realized that the true practice requires realization and practical practice.
You must practice your mind in adversity, difficult and difficult environments.
Let go of your greed, vanity, hatred, temper yourself, overcome cowardice, and make your heart brave and strong, invincible and courageous.
Master Chengxin ignored his age and weakness, and refused to the kind dissuasion of his disciples and grandchildren. He set out without hesitation and moved forward towards the holy land in his heart.
Along the way, sometimes the weather is sunny and sunny, they can walk more than 30 miles a day. Master Chengxin is walking in front of him, and her disciple Renli and others are carrying their luggage and following closely behind. The believers along the way were deeply shocked, and many pedestrians continue to join the mountain team.
Sometimes it is windy and rainy, lightning and thundering, and the followers all go away from the rain. They still face the wind and rain, not afraid of the cold, and only one thought in their hearts: move forward, move forward...
Like Gorky " Haiyan ":
"Let the storm come more violent!"
Master Chengxin, who holds the "no money precept", does not carry any penny, and does not accept the money offerings from the lay Buddhists along the way. They eat one day and only accept food offerings once a day.
In order not to accept the money from believers, they chose to march at night.
There are no pedestrians on the dark path, only moonlight and vague starlight.
They face the moonlight, not afraid of darkness, and their hearts are filled with light. Sometimes, without food, they would be hungry all night until dawn.
Along the way, I slept in the open and went through wind and rain, and the fingernails were all worn off, and the shoes were covered with blood. There are enthusiastic believers worshiping and offering sacrifices, and there are also unanswerable crowds who speak coldly. They have been blunt, criticized, expelled, and detained.
Master Chengxin took all this indifferently. Her disciple wiped his tears with grievance, but she smiled and enlightened them:
"Working asceticism towards the mountains, there is no smooth sailing. What pedestrians cannot do, and what others cannot tolerate. This is the true practice. Didn't ancient great monks come here like this?"
build a temple and wrote a thousand volumes of scriptures with blood. His pious heart moved the world and
, which has a population of more than 400,000, there is no temple yet.
When Master Chengxin came to Huadian to preach the Dharma, he rushed to the morning early in the morning and came back again at dark.
It would be great if a temple was built, and local believers could listen to the sutras and Dharma, practice diligently, and recite the Buddha's name to seek rebirth.
A lay Buddhist named Wang Shoumin actively planned the construction of the temple. Through the joint efforts of her and the lay Buddhists, the procedures for building a Buddhist temple were finally completed. Master Chengxin came to Ping'an Village in Huadian and began to build Huayan Temple.
She sticks to her principles of practice, does not seek favors, and does not beg for alms.
Always chant Buddha's name and scriptures on weekdays, do more and say less.
The temple is in its initial construction stage and the conditions are very difficult. She lives in a humid plate shed. The quilt is always wet in winter. If there is no vegetables, she will eat cabbage and pickled pickles.
Usually, you can do everything yourself in detail.
on the one hand receives urban construction management personnel and coordinates the construction of temples, and on the other hand, communicates and negotiates with farmers who are on the government’s land allocation.
In order to save expenses, Master Chengxin led many lay Buddhists to do it themselves. Everyone digs their feet to build a building hall, build walls and yards, carry water and mud, work together, and have a lot of fun.
In winter, the ground is frozen stiff and the ground is full of small stones. Everyone digs and picks up it, like a woodpecker, and they dug the foundation bit by bit.
Wherever you are sincere, metal and stone are open.
Master Chengxin’s virtue of hard work and realizing his practice has inspired believers from all directions. Everyone has money and strength. In the spring of 2004, Huayan Temple was officially laid and construction was soon put into operation.
As Master Chengxin often said:
"What you have never lacked in temple cultivation is money, what you lack is 'cultivation', which is practice."
Master Chengxin was preparing to build Huayan Temple while pricking blood to write sutras.
The blood meridian she wrote for more perfection in order to make her blood more perfect, she ate boiled vegetables in white water for two years without adding a drop of oil and salt.
She spent ten years writing more than a thousand volumes of blood sutras. These blood sutras took the master's lifelong efforts and became the treasure of the temple-stood temple of Huayan Temple. They are now preserved in the Sutra Pavilion of Huayan Temple.
"Reciting Buddha's name has many benefits, and everyone gets away from suffering and is happy."
Master Chengxin compiled this sentence into minor tune , and when he was happy, he wandered around the yard, humming the minor tune.
After years of hard work, she has no pain in her heart. No hardship can trap her heart, and her heart is full of happiness.
Although she was wearing a patchwork robe and ate cabbage, radish , she always had a pure smile on her face.
Her virtue is touching, her smile is warm, and her behavior is touching.
People praise: a true practitioner!
