Grandma Gao is 90 years old and used to be the captain of the track and field team in the sports team. When she recalls her days in the sports team in the Southwest Military Region, she still remembers her vivid memories.
1951, Teacher Gao Minggang was still in the army of the Dushan Military Sub-district of Guizhou Military Region. At that time, the Guizhou Military Region was going to hold a sports meeting. The Dushan Military Sub-district selected team members in the army to form the Dushan Military Sub-district representative team. Teacher Gao won the first place in the high jump, so he was successfully selected. After the sports meeting, Teacher Gao returned to Military Sub-district . Around March 1952, Teacher Gao received a notice to report to Guizhou Military Region. Due to the needs of the Southwest Military Region, a group of more than 20 people including her embarked on the journey to Chongqing for training. 1952, Zhu Bingheng was training in Datianwan Stadium when they first arrived in Chongqing, they were training in DAtianwan Stadium. After the first sports meeting of the entire army ended, they returned to Chongqing and went to Xietai Civil Aviation Village until the sports team was disbanded. The training conditions were difficult at the beginning, and they lived in the bungalow where the villagers lived, which was not big. They had to take off their shoes when entering the door. The large bunk bed on the ground was about one pillow wide when everyone slept, and the slightly fat team members could not turn over. There is no tap water or river water. You use a large scoop to scoop water in the rice fields, then put it in a large jar, and finally precipitate it with alum , so that you can obtain domestic water. At that time, they were divided into two teams. The first team was mainly responsible for ball games, including three major balls, table tennis, baseball, , etc.; the second team was responsible for individual events such as track and field, swimming, and gymnastics. Later, in order to improve the training conditions, the team moved into other places within the civil aviation village, and the Tiansai team where Teacher Gao was located moved into Feng Gongguan. Until 1953, a two-storey building was specially built there, and the conditions were further improved. 1952 On May 4, Gao Minggang won the first place in the women's high jump competition of the "First People's Sports Conference in the Southwest District" 1952, the delegation of the Southwest Military Region of the People's Liberation Army of China attended the First People's Sports Conference in the Southwest District and won the first place in the total score. In May 4, after about a month of training, their teams made good results at the First People's Sports Conference in the Southwest District held in Chongqing. This is their first time participating in the competition. They devoted themselves and worked hard. They won all the rankings in the events they participated in, and they were almost all champions, and finally won the first place in the group's total score. To this end, the leaders also held a banquet in the military region and held a celebration meeting. In August of the same year, they represented the Southwest Military Region to participate in the First Sports Conference of the Army. The second sports team where Teacher Gao is located won two championships in the women's 4×400m relay and women's 4×200m relay at that sports meeting. The men's basketball , women's basketball , men's volleyball , and women's volleyball all won rankings. As a pioneer of the national sports team, the Southwest Military Region Sports Team has achieved excellent results in the subsequent competitive competitions and is at the leading level in the national competitive competitions. 953, the first People's Sports Conference of Sichuan Province was held in Chengdu, and the sports team selected another group of outstanding team members. Afterwards, some members of the sports team received a notice and went to Beijing to attend the training camp for "August 1" team. Teacher Gao recalled, "I was on the list at that time, but because of poisonous sores on my back, I couldn't walk or sleep, let alone run and jump, and I recuperated for nearly two months." Later, because some of the team members were selected to the national team, there was a shortage of personnel. In 1954, the sports team selected a group of outstanding athletes in the military regions of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan. , Teacher Gao introduced that in addition to completing competitive tasks, they also went to the army to be teachers and coaches. At that time, the Southwest Military Region implemented the labor and national sports system, held training classes throughout the army, and taught soldiers basic skills and conducted professional training according to standards. The first training class was carried out in the Tibet Military Region, and the second was in the Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan Military Regions.During the Spring Festival and New Year's Day and other festivals, they also go to the grassroots to perform and visit fellow villagers. They have performed on the streets and in small auditoriums. "We also held a dance party. The Southwest Military Region Sports Team has all the talents, and some of the members are from the art troupe. When dancing the party dance, they were praised by the leaders, saying that our performance was effective and energetic, and they had the courage of the Red Army
soldiers!" 1955, in the spring of Military Commission , the entire army established the Ministry of National Defense, and the troops were greatly reformed, and the military region was abolished, and the Southwest Military Region was also abolished. Teacher Gao said that they actually didn’t know it at first, and it was not until Xia Tian that they received the order to return to the army, go to factories, go to local sports teams, etc. From receiving the notice to leaving, it took about a month to learn national defense education, hold discussions, and then make statements. Teacher Gao and a group of more than 20 people went to the Sports Competition Guidance Department of the Southwest District according to the allocation. On the day they left the army, they took off their military caps, took off their hat badges, and pulled off the "Chinese People's Liberation Army" badge sewn on their chests, sobbing silently. Teacher Gao held back his tears and gave the order "turn right, walk in step, stand firm, get on the bus!" After getting on the bus, he finally couldn't help but burst into tears.Time flies. Report hall, Gao Minggang and the gymnastics team Wen Xiaotie met again after they were separated. Although everyone returned to their respective teams, the friendship between the players is still there. In 1991, the team members visited the statue of Marshal He Long together. Since that rally, they have established address books across the country, with the staff being relatively concentrated in Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Beijing, Nanjing, Jiangsu, and Zhengzhou, Henan. Later, two national rallies were held in Chengdu. The first was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the combat physical engineering team in 2002, and the second was to commemorate the 109th birthday of Marshal He Long in 2005. Teacher Gao was in Nanjing before, and the members of the sports team organized a party every year to recall the past together. Later, Teacher Gao moved to Beijing and also attended the party. Teacher Gao said with emotion, "At that time, due to the high standards and strict requirements of the military leaders, and the attention and concern for the team members, although the sports team in the southwest region has been in a short time, it has certain historical significance for the development of sports in New China, and also has an example and positive role in the sports development and sports backbone of various provinces and cities."
