On this day, Shenxiu sent his most proud disciple Zhicheng to Caoxi to listen to Huineng's teachings, and said that you are the smartest and the most intelligent among my disciples. You must listen carefully, carefully distinguish the difference between the master and him, and see where he is so brilliant. But you must pay attention to concealing your true identity and never let Huineng know that I sent you there.
Zhicheng naturally did not dare to violate the orders of his master. After half a month of trekking, he finally arrived in Caoxi, Shaozhou, and sat down without saying a word and listened silently. But this doesn't matter. Zhicheng quickly gained a new understanding of his mind. He couldn't help but admire Master Huineng , so he took the initiative to tell his identity, because the principles he couldn't understand were suddenly enlightened here.
Huineng said half-jokingly, you are still a spy. Zhicheng licked his face and said, "I can say that I did it carefully before I told you about my identity. Now that I have told you about my identity, I will naturally not forget it."

This is actually the same as the state of thought in Zen. The truth and wisdom of kindness cannot be expressed in words and depends entirely on one's own heart to understand. In other words, wisdom cannot be expressed in words. It is precisely this view that a state of Zen is "not establishing words", and this speechless wisdom is highly respected.
Around 120 BC, Sakyamuni had been reborn for more than 600 years. There was a man named Wei Biao who became a monk in his sixties and believed in Buddhism. However, he was eloquent and soon became a famous monk in the eyes of others.
The achievements of the monk Wei were despised by a man named Ma Ming. This Ma Ming was not a simple figure, but a famous debate genius at that time.
So, Ma Ming took his disciples to meet the monk Wei, saying that he could argue with any remarks. If I could not overturn your argument, I would commit suicide and apologize. But after hearing this, Bhikkhu Wei didn't say a word.

Ma Ming was still dissatisfied and continued to stimulate him and said that you were so frivolous that you were so frank. After that, he left arrogantly. Halfway through the road, Ma Ming suddenly woke up and said that he had lost.
The disciples were happy. Seeing the master's frustrated expression, they asked in a clarity, why did the master say that he lost?
Ma Ming explained that I told Wei that I could argue any arguments about him, that is, to tell others that all my arguments can be pushed down by others. But he didn't say a word, so I had no idea how to start, let alone argue, so I lost, not him.
So, Ma Ming immediately turned around and returned to the monk Wei, knelt down in front of him to apologize, and said that he would fulfill his promise to commit suicide and apologize.

But Wei Biao did not let Ma Ming die, but just let him study the Dharma and become a monk. From then on, Ma Ming also became a Buddhist disciple, which is also the embodiment of Wei Biao's "unspeakable wisdom".
is a unique concept. There is a very famous view in Buddhism called "the only method". People in the secular world often use it to describe the only method, or the unparalleled absolute.
can be found in the original Buddhist mind. The non-dual method originally refers to a method of practicing directly entering the Tao and not being expressed in words. That is the non-dual method. The so-called "non-duality" actually means that there is no need for teaching words or language, but all depends on one's own perception.
Just like Kumarajiva said: "If you have words to be speechless, it is not as good as speaking in silence, so the silent argument is the wonder of the argument."

According to the passage, Manjushri Bodhisattva took many other Bodhisattvas to visit the sick lay Buddhist Vimalakirti, and each had his own opinions on entering the non-dual Dharma, and could not argue. In the end, Manjushri Bodhisattva spoke, saying that all dharmas are speechless, speechless, and free from all questions and answers. This is the only way to be a human being.
Finally, Manjushri Bodhisattva also asked Vimalakirti. We all expressed our own opinions. What is your point of view?
It’s a pity that Vimalakirti, who is famous for his eloquence, closed his lips and said nothing, but Manjushri Bodhisattva praised you, "You don’t use words or words, but you know the best way to enter the only way."

In fact, this view has a very influential to us modern people. Now we often say that someone is talking big, and someone will advise him that silence is gold. The truth here is not only the same as Huineng's "silent" path, but also has the Zen view of "the only way".
