A disciple said: "A Zen master in Zhenru Temple has a very high moral character. The place where he lives is only one day away. Why not go to ask for help?'

Toutu thought to himself: "Instead of waiting to die in the temple, it is better to go and try it, maybe there is still a glimmer of life." ’ Then he immediately dressed up and went there.

When Toutuo saw the Zen Master, he cried sadly, reported to the Zen Master and begged for help.

Zen Master said: "The pagoda here is about to collapse. If you are willing to make a sincere wish and are willing to raise funds to build it, I will teach you the method to ensure that the underworld cannot catch you. ’

Toutuo was surprised and happy when he heard this. He bowed sincerely in front of the Buddha and swore: ‘If I really can live without death, I am willing to raise funds to build the pagoda that is about to be destroyed. ’

After the oath, the Zen master handed the rosary in his hand to Toutuo and said: 'You should not sleep during these seven days, just in my room, and concentrate on reciting the two sentences of "knowing this place is the tower" in the sutra of " Diamond Sutra ". If you carefully experience it, it will be enough to save yourself. ’Toutuo followed the Zen master’s instructions and read and recited it wholeheartedly without leaving the house.

After seven days, the two underworld soldiers staggered to the place where the Zen master lived and said to the Zen master: "There is a monk who is destined to die and escaped here, and asks you for instructions and convenience. ’

Zen master said: ‘He is in the room, let you catch him!’

The underworld just stepped into the room and then withdrew in panic and said: ' Only a pagoda was seen in the room, emitting dazzling light, making our eyes unable to open. ’

Zen master only told the underworld: 'He recited the best method and made a brave vow. Even though he was a god, dragon, ghost, and god, he had no choice but to do anything to him. You will go back and report to the King of the Ming. Let’s say that a certain Zen master of Huailin will temporarily stay to cultivate the tower. If you gain merits and virtues in the underworld, you will not be guilty. ’ The underworld had no choice but to go back and reply to the King of the Underworld.

Toutuo monk survived this great disaster and did not dare to waste his time anymore. He then created an iron chain to lock himself. Regardless of the cold winter and hot summer, he knelt on the road where people and cars were mingling, begging for alms to good men and women. In this way, he completed the great merit of building a tower for the rest of his life.

The scripture says: ' If there is this sutra, all the heavenly beings and Asuras in the world should know that this place is the pagoda, and they should be respectful, and circle them with the fragrance of flowers and disperse them. ’ Huailin recited the scriptures and showed the pagoda of light. Not to mention that the Black Envoy was helpless to him, even if the King of Yama came in person, he would bow to him with a graceful look.
