Many people have heard of the term " Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva ". In fact, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is indeed a very important figure in Buddhism.

But I believe many friends have only a little understanding of the meaning of this name, but they are nothing more than hearing people say that Ksitigarbha lives underground.
If Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva just lives underground, then there is no difference between him and Heaven .
But in fact, the identity of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is much higher than that of the King of Hell. Even in almost everyone's mind, the King of Hell is a negative image, while the King of Ksitigarbha is completely positive.
Do you know that the name Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has a profound meaning, mainly in the word "di" and its relationship with "hidden" is not so close.
For everyone, "land" is the basis of their own existence. If there is no land, there will be no place to stand. What else can we talk about?

The name of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is the earth, and treasure is the treasure. Of course, the king refers to the highest authority. Therefore, the meaning of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is to be in charge of all treasures on the earth.
The reason why people who believe in Buddhism recite Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is not limited to wanting to obtain the treasure of the earth, but more importantly, they hope to obtain his good thoughts and blessings.
The good thoughts of Ksitigarbha King were very grand. It is said that he was going to become a Buddha, but he made a great wish: Hell is not empty, and he vowed not to become a Buddha.
The place after death of the person who is reincarnated in the three realms accepted by hell is at least in the visible future. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's great aspiration cannot be realized, so he is still a Bodhisattva.

If we must fully understand the meaning of "King of Ksitigarbha", we must first fully understand the word "di" in full. The meaning of this word is profound and vast:
First of all, "di" means that the land is vast and vast. Each of us cannot deny the vastness of the land, and any food in the world is produced from the land. From this perspective, "di" is also the foundation for everyone to survive.
Secondly, the fair heart of the earth. For the earth, we have truly achieved "equality of all beings". No matter whether you are a good person or a bad person, no matter whether you are poor or rich, in its eyes, they are completely equal.
We can see that in the arms of the earth, whether it is a poisonous snake or a kitten, there can be a chain of resources for them to survive, and they can live in harmony. This may also be a secret explanation for the equality of all living beings.

In addition, the earth can also hide water. Some people say that soil overcomes water. Isn’t it often said that “water comes from the soil to cover it”? In fact, it is not.
No matter how much rain falls in the sky, the earth can easily accept it. The accumulated water on the ground will slowly disappear, and in fact it will merge into rivers, lakes and seas. This can also be said to be a kind of cultivation virtue of the earth.
Of course, we cannot ignore it. Everything in the world grows from the land, but whether it is food or plants, the final destination is still the earth. This is a process of where to come from and where to go.
From this perspective, the earth is the mother of all things and the home of all things. Without land, all things in the world would not be able to appear at all, let alone where to go.
There is another issue that cannot be ignored, that is, all the treasures in the world come from the earth. It can be said that the earth is the warehouse of treasures.

The "treasures" we are talking about here are not limited to gold, silver and treasures, but also include coal, oil and other resources. Think about it, are they all coming out of the earth? The last point of
is that the unshakable nature of the earth. Although people also say that the earth is shaking, compared with the entire land, even a huge natural disaster like an earthquake is negligible to it as a whole.
This also determines that the indestructible earth is almost unique. No matter how the wind and thunder stir, they appear so weak in front of the earth.
This also tells the world that the most important qualities that a person should possess. If a person can have the characteristics of the above seven aspects at the same time, it is the real "treasure".

Finally, we look over and look at the name "King of Ksitigarbha" Bodhisattva. Do we feel that it has a more sense of virtue and dignity? No wonder people who believe in Buddhism recite him.
