Sir Yan Yang, the taboo is a loyal believer, a newcomer from Wuning, Hongzhou, and the Dharma heir of Zen Master Congshen, Zhaozhou.
After first visit to the monk Zhaozhou, he asked, "What if there is nothing in the future?"
Monkey Zhaozhou replied, "Let go."
Venice Yan Yang was very puzzled and asked, "Since it is something in the future, what should I put down?"
Monkey Zhaozhou said, "If you can't let go, take it away."
Venice Yan Yang was very enlightened. Venerable Yan Yang believed that he had let go of everything, but he did not know that he had been attached to a "purity" (one thing will not come in the future), that is, he did not let go of the idea of "purity". Can this "cleanness" be afforded by
? In fact, there is no need to choose this "purity", or in other words, you will not choose whether you choose or not. Since you are completely selfless and have nothing, why do you still have to take on this "pure" idea? If you have the idea of "choosing", aren't you obsessed again?
From the perspective of practice, many people yearn for this state of "one thing will not come" and think that this is the most free, and that this is the highest state of Zen. However, the monk Zhaozhou said that even the thought that he thought the most free and highest state must be let go, so that he can truly enter the Zen sect and enter the state of non-discrimination while staying away from all discrimination and attachment. It can be seen that "let go" is certainly a high level of enlightenment, but if you are obsessed with "let go", it will become an obstacle to enlightenment. After returning to Hongzhou to preach the Dharma, a snake and a tiger are often accompanied by each other.
Zen Master Yan Yang often uses lively words to help others, neither giving sticks nor drinking, but only relying on his three-inch soft tongue to untie people. His cleverness is unpredictable and he has won the true teachings of the monk Zhaozhou.
A monk asked, "How is Buddha?" The master (Zen Master Yan Yang) said, "The earth is blocked." He asked, "How is Dharma?" The master said, "The earth moves." He asked, "How is monk?" He said, "Eat porridge and eat." He asked, "What is Xinxing Water?" The master said, "In the river ahead." He asked, "How is it to appear in response to things?" The master said, "Come with me to pick up the bed."
