Speaking of Xuanzang, people know that he was a famous monk from in the Tang Dynasty. He went to the West to worship Buddha and pray for scriptures. The remains of Xuanzang were the corpse of Xuanzang after his death. So what is relics? In fact, relics can be divided into bone relics, hair relics and flesh relics. What is usually said to belong to bone relics. Buddhism believes that relics are cultivated by the merits of practice, and are mostly made of hard beads, with colorful and dazzling colors. At that time, the Japanese stolen Xuanzang's capsular bone relics.
Putting aside the famous "Journey to the West", Xuanzang had many difficulties on the journey to the West, because he did not have any disciples with great martial arts skills around him, and he was the only one from beginning to end. In his early years, Xuanzang smuggled out of seclusion, but when he arrived in India, his erudition was already famous all over the world. Therefore, when Xuanzang returned from obtaining the scriptures, he highly praised Xuanzang from the royal family of the Li Tang Dynasty to the people. Emperor Taizong of Tang Li Shimin not only sent Prime Minister Fang Xuanling out of the city to welcome him, but also specially built Big Wild Goose Pagoda to let him preach scriptures and translate books and promote Buddhism.
So during the Tang Dynasty period, Xuanzang was very famous, but when Master Xuanzang passed away, where was his body buried? But it has become a topic that people are most interested in. If you want to talk about the place where Xuanzang's body was buried, it is clearly recorded in history books. According to Xuanzang's last wish, his body was buried in Bailuyuan , not far from the east of Chang'an . However, he was later moved to Fanchuan in the south of Chang'an. It was later renamed Chang'an County, and now it is Chang'an District of Xi'an City, and Xuanzang's relic tower is also standing there.
However, there is information but it records it like this, saying that at the end of the Tang Dynasty, Xuanzang's remains were reburied and buried in Zige Temple in Zhongnan Mountain. However, local people say that hu County only Zigeyu and Zige Village, and have never heard of Zige Temple at all. Therefore, experts believe that such statements are unreliable, because as a master of Buddhism, Xuanzang's relocation and burial are a major event for both Buddhism and the royal family, and it is impossible for him to have no records in history books.
neither records nor the exact location of Zige Temple, which makes experts believe that this matter must not be as simple as it appears. After repeated research by experts, it was found that a line of carved words was found on the cliff. It was the fourth year of Chongning. The characters were officials from Hu County and tourists from other places. By the way, they visited Zige together. Judging from this clue, Zige Temple should be real, and the second is to find the location of Zige Temple.
Experts speculate that the disappearance of Zige Temple may be due to its remote location and are unwilling to let outsiders discover that there is another possibility that it has been renamed. So what is the specific reason needs to be studied again. Through the introduction of the villagers, there is an ancient pagoda on the mountain pass of Zige Valley, and the pagoda is called " Jingde Pagoda ". Jingde here is not simple. It was the door god " Yuchi Jingde " during the reign of Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty.
If Emperor Taizong of Tang gave his door god to Xuanzang, it is understandable. After all, Li Tang royal family treated him with special courtesy. Although the words make sense, from the record of building the "Jingde Tower", the time is completely inconsistent, which means that the tower has nothing to do with Xuanzang. But the villagers insisted that this tower must have been built in the Tang Dynasty. The reason why there are records of and in the Song Dynasty is that it was repaired and raised in the Song Dynasty.
Through the rubble, square bricks found around Jingde Pagoda, tile on the Buddha's body, etc., it once again proves that Zige Temple is real, but because of the long time and the influence of the environment, Zige Temple has been damaged and disappeared. So why was Master Xuanzang's remains buried in a remote place? Why can the Japanese dig out Xuanzang's sacred bone relics in Nanjing?
This matter was explained in the stone box dug out by the Japanese. It said, ", the Tang Dynasty, the Three Zangs, the master Xuanzang, was the head of the bones, and it was because of , Huang Chao, , and now the Changgan Evolution Master Kaozheng, was passed down in Chang'an, and buried here, the Heavenly Saint Dingmao on the fifth month of the second month."The meaning of this passage is that in the late Tang Dynasty, Master Xuanzang's relic pagoda was destroyed by the Huang Chao uprising army. Later, a monk who was polite brought Xuanzang's relic from Chang'an to Nanjing. This is why the Japanese dug up Xuanzang's relic from Nanjing.
However, some experts have suggested that the Huang Chao Fata incident has not been recorded in history. So is the record of the monk Kezheng true? Although this matter is not certain, it is indeed a foregone conclusion that the Japanese army robbed Xuanzang's relics. In order not to make this matter bigger, the Japanese army divided the sectar bone relics into three parts and preserved them in Nanjing, Beijing and Japan respectively.
