Zen Buddhism believes that only by letting go of everything affected by the physical environment can one be free and free, and without leaving any thoughts on sailing thousands of miles. In the eyes of the monk, one must let go of the impermanence of gathering and dispersion attributed to causes and conditions.
People's gathering, separation and reunion are based on various causes and conditions. There must be a cause and effect. Causes have both internal and external causes, and irresistible impermanence. The development of things will not always be checked according to our subjective imagination. It is inevitable that most of the time, everything goes well is just a beautiful wish.
A scholar and his fiancée made an appointment to get married on a certain day of a certain month of a certain year, but on that day, his fiancée married someone else. The scholar was hit hard by this and fell ill. This was a passing monk. When he learned about this, he decided to enlighten him. He came to his bed, took out a mirror from his arms, and asked the scholar to look at it. The scholar saw a murdered woman lying naked on the beach, one of whom was passing by looked at it, shook his head and left. Another person passed by, took off his clothes and covered the female corpse and walked over and passed by. One person went over to dig a hole and buried the body carefully. The scholar was confused and the picture switched. The scholar saw that his fiancée's bridal chamber candle was lifted by her husband. The scholar didn't know what to do, so he asked the monk. The monk explained that the female corpse on the beach was the previous life of your fiancée. You were the second person to pass by. He once gave her a piece of clothing. She fell in love with you in this life just to repay you, but she would eventually repay the person who had been buried for the rest of her life. That person was his current husband. After hearing this, the scholar suddenly realized that his illness gradually recovered.
The reason why the scholar fell ill was because he could not bear such a blow, nor could he let go of his past feelings calmly, but the causes of his previous life created the results of this life. In the past life, there is only the kindness that covers the body, and in this life, there is only the reward of a brief love. If a scholar lets go, he will be free from the disease and will naturally be cured. Letting go at the right time is not only a good medicine for curing diseases, but sometimes it will even become a life-saving weapon.
In the past, a man went out to do business. He was so hard to travel through mountains and rivers. Once he passed a steep cliff, he accidentally fell into a deep valley. Seeing that his life was in danger, he climbed and grabbed the old branches of the dead trees on the rock wall. He finally saved his life. However, the person was hanging in the air and was not allowed to move forward and retreat. When he was not sure what to do, he suddenly saw the compassionate Buddha standing on the cliff, looking at himself kindly. This person seemed to have seen a savior. Ban quickly begged the Buddha to say to him, please be kind to me, please save me. The Buddha said I can save you, but you have to listen to me before I can save you. When the Buddha reached this point, how dare I not listen to you? I will listen to you whatever you say, so please put your hand on the branch. When this person hears, he will definitely fall into a deep pit, falling to pieces, and he will not be able to save his life. Therefore, he holds on to the branches even harder to let go of Buddha. Seeing that this person is obsessed with it, he has to leave. The cliff and valley are reborn. It seems like a paradox, but in fact it contains profound Zen principles.
Cliff letting go is a beautiful and light posture. After letting go, the mind will gain a vast sky that can fly freely.
in an instant release and stretch. In the legend and martial arts stories, we often see such scenes and the protagonist who has been pampered and loved for the rest of his life is forced to the edge of the cliff. Below is the turbulent flowing water, and behind are fierce pursuers. The protagonist sighs up to the sky, looks back and smiles, and jumps. The sky is rushing and rushing, blending into one, making everyone sigh, but it seems that all the stories have not escaped such a follow-up.
A tree on the rock wall, a deep pool of water under the cliff, will always lift it steadily like the warm palm of my mother. The popular warriors are often able to accidentally discover a thousand-year treasure or a unique secret book in this strange place that ordinary people cannot reach. Stories such as a thousand-year treasure or a vast array of secrets inadvertently conform to certain views of Zen. Meditation practitioners must be willing to give up in order to gain something.
The realm of life is high and low. Those with high realm are like a mirror, taking care of themselves immediately, constantly confident, and burning themselves like a candle. Blaming all directions is more like a suitcase, and being free to lift them.
Things change, the wind and clouds are unpredictable, the origin and destruction of sentient beings are gradually moving away in the torrent of time, flowers are romantic, birds are singing, and the duplication of names cannot be obscured, and the impermanence of changing stars and changing worlds. Taking responsibility and letting go are not easy. Both require courage and courage. To be able to lift and let go, and to be calm and indifferent, is beyond the reach of people. Master Shenyan divides people into three categories. The first category cannot be raised, and the second category cannot be raised, and the third category can be raised, and the third category can be raised, and the left can be put down.
The first type of people occupy the majority of the people. They only know how to enjoy, but never bear the heart, but cannot let go of their pursuit of fame and fortune. They are like dodders who live on the stems of nettle , climbing onto other plants, absorbing nutrients effortlessly, but never giving anything.
Category 2. People are responsible and responsible, and often have clear goals. They will always climb up with their own abilities. Once they have gained something, they are reluctant to let go, and they will only drag their heavier bags and make a difficult journey.
The third type of people, have ideals, courage, responsibility, and are calm and at ease, with a mind and mind position, can attack or defend, can advance or retreat, and they are incited in one day. Two strangers looked up at the mountain, and the older one asked for a stone beside the road. Is this the highest mountain in the world? Probably yes, Shi Tou replied lazily, so the older stranger started climbing up without saying anything. The young stranger smiled at Shi Tou and asked, "When I come back, you want me to bring you what stone you want. He looked at the young man in a daze and said, "If you really reach the top of the mountain, just give me the things you least want at that moment." The young man was very strange, but without asking too much, he climbed up with the older man, and he was moving around. I don't know how long it took, but the young man walked down the mountain alone. Shi Tou hurriedly asked you if you reached the top of the mountain?" Yes, the other person, he will never come back.
For a mountaineer, the greatest wish in his life is to overcome the highest mountain in the world. When his wish is really fulfilled, he will lose his life's goal. It's like a broken leg of a good horse. There is no difference between living and dying. He jumped off the cliff. What about you? I was going to jump together, but I accidentally remembered that I promised you to give you the least thing I wanted on the top of the mountain. It seems that it is my life, so come and accompany me.
The young man built a thatched house next to the road and lived in it by the mountain. Although life is free and easy, it is as tasteless as boiled water. Young people always watch the mountains smear on the paper silently. Over time, the lines on the paper gradually become clearer and the outlines become clearer. Later, the young people became a painter, and the painting industry also claimed that a dazzling new star was rising. Then, the young people started writing again, and soon after he became famous with his articles returning to nature with their elegance and eternal style.
Many years have passed, and the young man in the past has become an old man. When he recalls the past events towards the stone, he feels that painting and writing are actually no different. Finally, he understands a truth. In fact, a higher mountain is not by the side of a person, and in the heart of a person, only selflessness can be surpassed. In the story, the climber who jumped from the mountain belongs to the second type of person mentioned by Master Shengyu. He persistently pursues the honor of climbing the highest peak in the world. Once his wish is fulfilled, he cannot let it go and continue moving forward. Therefore, he thinks that there is only a dead end to follow. The young man had the idea of being light-hearted before, but because he cannot violate the promise of stone, he has the opportunity to realize the real disability. The higher mountain in the world is in the heart of a person.
People can always be continuously improved between the collection and release of the world. Only by letting go of the ties of fame and the secular world and having a simple and natural original intention can we not worry about external things and truly understand the meaning of life.
