In the vast world, man is like a fettered bird, with many constraints and no independence at all. Zen points out a transparent path, allowing people to escape from the sea of suffering and embark on the path of absolute freedom.
There is such a case. A monk asked Master Zhaozhou: When the moon is alone in the sky, where does the light come from? At this time, Zhaozhou asked: Where does the moon come from? Faced with such a rhetorical question, I don’t know how the monk should answer. If it were you, how would you answer?
However, in the eyes of Zen Buddhism, it is necessary to cut off all ties of knowledge and habits. So where does the moon come from? It is the function of human consciousness and the feeling of space. This is also the moon that is bound by knowledge. There is no moon. itself, and the realm of the Zen family is "the cold moon is round", which is "the solitary bird in the sky".
For example, people exist in dependence, but the existence of being accustomed to dependence is inappropriate, because this is a state of non-existence. What is the purpose of Zen Buddhism? It is to relieve this dilemma and let the world understand it. , break all superstitions.
Bada Shanren , who is familiar with Zen philosophy, uses painting to express his in-depth thinking in this regard. What frequently appears in his paintings are lone birds, lone chickens, lone trees, and lonely 菡菏 , lonely little flower, lonely boat, all of these are images of loneliness and dependence on nothing, which is also in line with the ideal of Zen Buddhism.

In fact, they are just one person. This is ridiculous, which is why Ding Yuanying in Tiandao would rather cook white noodles than go out to do anything. His understanding of Zen is profound.
The noisy world is entangled with each other like kudzu, more like knowledge and habits entangled with people. However, people exist in a situation of "waiting", and lose their authenticity in the "waiting". It is really stupid. .
In the eyes of Bada Shanren, many things, such as the vast rivers and mountains, are too annoying. He prefers loneliness, so he has to cut off the kudzu vines, tear away the ties, and seek the truth of life.
People say that Badashan people are good at painting stones, which are very different from the stones painted by previous generations of painters. Most of the Bada stones are like a protruding peak, which is also a solitary. The independence of the solitary peak is an important image of Zen Buddhism. There is also the solitary figure sitting alone. The peak is always accompanied by white clouds, which is an important state of Zen.
There is such a case, that is to say, a fully enlightened person is completely different in the eyes of ordinary people. I remember someone asked Weishan: Where did your student Xuanjian Zen Master go? Weishan's answer was that he "Xiang Gu" There is a thatched hermitage on the top of the mountain. "Go and yell at Buddha and ancestors." What does this mean?
In fact, "climbing to the top of the solitary peak" is the expression of complete enlightenment, which emphasizes having nothing to rely on and no ties to, which is what Zen advocates. You see, one peak is treated independently in the eight paintings, which embodies what Zen calls "the solitary peak is so different." Beautiful, without hanging cigarettes; the moon is flying in the sky, and the white clouds are at ease."

How to be unintentional? This is achieved when the birds don’t know when the clouds come, the grass doesn’t know when the water comes, and the rocks come when the wind comes. Because there is no intention, the world is also unintentional. Only the unintentional streams are gurgling.
