1. Exploration period

Preparing to read does not mean actually starting to "read", but letting the child do the preparation work. At first, children think that books are no different from other toys, but parents can try to guide their children to read the patterns on the books at this time. Children will gradually discover that books are actually different from other toys. Gradually, he will be able to relate things in the real world to the contents in the book. With the concept of "appearance", he will be more interested in observing life, and then make various comparisons between the real objects and the contents in the book.
Principles for book selection:
1. Books should be fun and interactive. Choose books that are stimulating to their sight, hearing, and touch. You can choose audio books or books with different texture materials.
2. The content should be closely connected with their daily life, so that it is easy for children to understand. The outlines of the graphics in the book should be accurate, the features should be obvious, and they should be easy to associate and identify.

Companion Skills:
Parents should continue to demonstrate and guide, and help children connect things in life with pictures in books, so that children can participate in reading more effectively. You don’t need a lot of books. Read one or a few over a period of time. Parents should not expect too much from their children. Children’s concentration time is short and they will run away after listening to it. It is normal to like today but not like tomorrow. Parents need to be careful. Greater patience. The time for reading every day should be relatively fixed, so that they can feel that reading, like eating and sleeping, is something they have to do every day, so as to develop good reading habits.
Once children are particularly interested in books, they will be very excited when they see the book, and will take the initiative to pick up the book and ask to read it with them. This means that parent-child reading has officially begun.
2. Naming period (picture-looking period)
performance characteristics: Children at this stage are very happy to point to pictures and say what this is and what that is. Colors and content that appeal to children will keep them excited. But at this time they have no reaction to the text, they only look at the pictures that attract them. Parents must not feel that their children cannot share the same frequency with adults because they do not understand the main line of the story and can only rely on their own interests to observe. However, at this stage, children's attention time on books is obviously longer.

Companion skills:
1. Start by looking at pictures. It is very important for children to match the content of the picture with the objects in real life. Parents should let their children learn to name the content on each picture in a directional way. When the child cannot fully express, you can simply ask, such as "Where is it?" and let the child identify it. When the child can fully express, we ask: "What is this?"
2. Let the children see rich pictures. Being able to say what is on the picture is only the basis. What is more important is to expand "what is" more abundantly. For example, for a flower, parents can constantly change the way they ask questions, such as "What color flower is this?" "What is under this flower?" "How many petals does this flower have?" If the child cannot speak yet, you can Let the parents speak out.
3. Affirm and praise what the child says. When the child can speak out, I will affirm it and tell the child that his observation is very serious and detailed, which means that he has made careful observation. After that, we can also summarize what he said and say it again. This will lay the foundation for the children to write essays after school, and the application of reading will be revealed.
