At the opening ceremony, Pengcheng Laboratory's "Greater Bay Area Future Network Test and Application Environment" project (FANet, referred to as the "Bay Area Network" project) was fully opened in 13 cities in Guangdong Province and 15 cities including Hong Kong and Macau. The backbone node, which marks the large scientific installation "Pengcheng Cloud Network" has officially entered the trial operation stage. "Bay Area Network" project is one of the first large-scale scientific installation projects approved by Pengcheng Laboratory and will be constructed "Pengcheng Cloud Network", the world's first regional network test and application large-scale scientific device, realizes the function of "one body and three functions": that is, on the basis of a new infrastructure, using scientific devices as the starting point to serve new networks Scientific experiments; using the Industrial Internet as the starting point to serve the real economy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; using the scientific research network as the starting point, connecting large scientific devices and instruments such as Pengcheng Yunnao and Shenzhen Supercomputing.

Currently, the "Bay Area Network" project has initially completed the capacity building of a network test platform based on network slicing and network virtualization. More than 10 projects such as the National Key R&D Program Project and the Guangdong Province Key Field R&D Program Project provide a network test platform, which effectively supports the network research work of many universities and scientific research institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the future, the "Bay Area Network" project will play a more important role in future network architecture research, network protocol and key technology breakthroughs, core chip and equipment research and development, new business innovation and other fields, and become the technological innovation and industrial development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
