AUO, Wistron, and Compal led the establishment of GOLF (Gap of Learning & Field) Learning Integration Alliance. In October this year, it became a corporate legal person and held a press conference on the day before (11/10). In an interview after the meeting, Peng Shuanglang, chairman of AUO, not only remained cautiously optimistic about the operating performance in the fourth quarter of this year, but also revealed that it will continue to focus on the economic layout of transportation, medical and other fields.
AUO recently announced its October revenue of NT$25.73 billion, a slight decrease of 1.4% from the previous month, but a significant increase of 28.8% compared with the same period last year. Peng Shuanglang pointed out that October revenue declined slightly compared to September. The main reason was not the lack of materials, but the capacity and inventory in the first three quarters had reached its peak, but it would not affect the November and December shipments. It is expected that total revenue in the fourth quarter should rise slightly or remain at the same level.
Peng Shuanglang added that the impact of the epidemic is that the global demand for IT products is still strong. Electronic products such as laptops and tablets have become necessities and become hard demands. Even if the epidemic slows down, this demand is unlikely to disappear and will change. Become the norm.
In addition, facing the current shortage of materials in the semiconductor industry, Peng Shuanglang pointed out that semiconductor components such as driver ICs, touch controls, and power supplies are all lacking. However, AUO and its suppliers have had a cooperative relationship for more than ten years. It is very deep, and the opportunity to be given priority is relatively large; therefore, it cannot be said that it has not been affected by the lack of materials, but AUO actively solves it. Regarding future development, Peng Shuanglang also revealed that AUO’s future operations will still focus on two major goals. The panel part will continue to develop in the direction of high-end and energy-saving. Another goal is to develop the field economy, such as education. AUO, medical care, retail, transportation, etc. are all areas where AUO focuses its attention.
Peng Shuanglang added that, for transportation, AUO will focus on commercial vehicles, and will not only provide panels, but will provide overall solutions (including hardware and software), and AUO will provide services in a way that integrates software and hardware. . In terms of medical care, AUO used to provide medical panels as its main focus. Now it plans to expand to display terminals and develop display modules and system parts with its partners.
Looking forward to the future development of the panel industry, Peng Shuanglang believes that after redistributing resources in the mainland and subsidies for land-based panel manufacturers have fallen sharply, as long as there are no unforeseen major events, I believe that panel supply and demand will be more balanced than in the past few years. The ups and downs.
