Various aspects include an apparatus of a communication device, which includes an antenna array and a processing circuit coupled to an with an antenna array . The processing circuit is configured to initialize a beam tracking algorithm based on the received signals received at the antenna array, wherein the antenna phase used in beam tracking is constrained by the upper and lower phase limits to generate beam tracking results. The processing circuit is also configured to generate a calibration vector based on the beam tracking result and to receive subsequent transmissions using a codebook adapted based on the calibration vector.
