According to China Manned Space Engineering Office , in order to meet the needs of follow-up flight missions of manned space engineering, the fourth batch of preparatory astronaut selection in my country has been launched recently.
A total of 12-14 preparatory astronauts were selected this time, including 7-8 space pilots, space flight engineers and payload experts, including about 2 payload experts.
It is reported that aerospace pilots will be selected among the active pilots of the Army, Navy and Air Forces. Aerospace flight engineers will be selected among scientific research and engineering technicians engaged in aerospace engineering and related fields, and payload experts will be selected among scientific researchers engaged in space scientific research and application-related fields.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first time that my country has selected load experts in Hong Kong and Macao.
This preparatory astronaut selection is organized and implemented by the China Manned Space Engineering Office and is expected to be completed in about one and a half years.
Currently, the three astronauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang, and Cai Xuzhe, who are currently stationed in in space station, are not over 47 years old. They are the youngest crew in my country's manned space flight missions so far, and are also the second batch of astronauts recruited by my country's manned space program.
