
According to Auganix, Epic Games and Autodesk, Inc. reached a strategic partnership to accelerate the cross-industry immersive real-time 3D experience, initially focusing on the areas of construction, engineering and construction (AEC).
Epic Games’ strategic partnership with Autodesk is designed to provide designers, engineers and construction professionals with immersive environments and collaborative workflows so that they can deliver more innovative projects in less time.
The first integrated product will be Twinmotion developed by Epic Games for Autodesk Revit to help designers turn their projects into reality. Since Revit is used to design, record and deliver construction and infrastructure projects, Twinmotion supplements the process by keeping sync with real-time rendering of for design and construction work. Autodesk intends to provide Twinmotion for Revit to all Revit customers in the upcoming release. “The integration between Autodesk Revit and Twinmotion is expected to provide design professionals with a truly seamless real-time 3D experience, and we share a common goal with Autodesk to support customers with more time to innovate. By adopting the Epic real-time 3D tool and library ecosystem, users can spend more time turning designs into reality and less time processing complex data and technical workflows,” said Amy Bunszel, Executive Vice President of Design,

Epic and Autodesk have been working together since Autodesk became an Epic Games partner in 2008 to achieve the integration of Autodesk 3D design software with Epic’s Unreal Engine. In addition to Revit, Epic Datasmith technology also supports 3ds Max, Navisworks and Inventor workflows to simplify the process of introducing projects into Unreal Engine .
