Electric water gas heat meter industry concerned about the application of Internet of Things technology must be familiar with NB-IoT and LoRa, two I have also learned a lot about the advantages and disadvantages of this Internet of Things technology, the applicable fields and corresponding application scenarios. I believe we can reach this consensus "There is no best technology, only the most suitable technology!". This is also the topic of this sharing. The protagonist introduced today is Wi-SUN, a member of the wide-area large-scale Internet of Things. Let's explore the applicable scenarios of Wi-SUN wireless transmission technology!
First of all, a simple “self-introduction”
Wi-SUN (Wireless Smart Ubiquitous Network) technology is based on the open specifications of IEEE 802.15.4g, IEEE 802 and IETF IPv6 standards. Wi-SUN FAN is a mesh network protocol, with self-organizing network function and self-healing (self-healing) function, each device in the network can communicate with neighboring devices, message The very long distance jump can be made between each node in the network.
Wi-SUN transmission technology is characterized by long-distance transmission, security, high scalability, interoperability, easy deployment, Mesh network, and low power consumption (Wi-SUN module The battery life has a chance to be used for as long as ten years), which is widely used in communication devices such as smart meters and home intelligent energy management (HEMS) controllers, and is also conducive to building a wide-area large-scale Internet of Things.
Wi-SUN Alliance was established in 2012. At present, there are more than 250 members around the world including Cisco, ARM, TI Texas Instruments, Itron (the world's largest automatic meter manufacturer), and Legocore. More than 150 Wi-SUN certified products. At present, Wi-SUN Alliance members have deployed more than 95 million Wi-SUN-enabled devices worldwide. It is widely used in public utilities and smart city construction because of the characteristics of connecting devices such as smart meters and smart street lights to a public network. The mission of the Wi-SUN Alliance is to use the open global standard IEEE 802.15.4g to provide strong product connectivity through testing and certification programs, develop the Wi-SUN ecosystem, and realize the interoperability of smart cities and smart public communication networks.

Alliance certification program boosts interconnection
Wi-SUN technology has the following three features: : Interoperability (Interoperability), Extensibility and scalability (Ubiquitous & Scalable), 安全性, which is also The Wi-SUN Alliance has been committed to doing it.
Since the beginning of the alliance, it has been committed to the self-organizing, self-repairing and interconnection of the wide-area large-scale Internet of Things, promoting the "Smart Utility Network" to gradually move towards the "Smart Ubiquitous Network" (Smart Ubiquitous Network)". In October 2018, the Wi-SUN Alliance launched an outdoor local area network (FAN) interoperability certification program, which was rigorously tested by an independent third-party testing laboratory to verify whether the company’s product equipment complies with IEEE 802.15.4g and can be used with other Supplier’s equipment for interactive operation. The certified devices can be used in all smart cities, smart (smart) utilities and other Internet of Things projects that have deployed Wi-SUN networks at home and abroad.
Other IP-based device authentication and encryption communicationInformation technology guarantees the security of the network. And tens of millions of reliably connected endpoints prove that Wi-SUN-based IoT Mesh networks can achieve the versatility and scalability required by many IoT customers.

family, outdoor-- two major application areas
Wi-SUN technology is applied in two areas: home local area network (Home Area Network, HAN) and Outdoor Local Area Network (Field Area Network, FAN):
Home Local Area Network
When smart meters use Wi-SUN communication technology, consumers can use the home The Home Energy Management System (HEMS) controller is paired with a dedicated APP to view the electricity consumption information of home products and the electricity bill setting; on the other hand, for power companies, it can accurately analyze electricity consumption and actively optimize energy management and control. All achieve energy saving effect. Smart cities can use advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) or existing wireless communication infrastructure provided by street lighting networks to implement other applications, such as smart traffic signals, public traffic signs, smart parking lots, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Outdoor local area network
FAN is mainly applied to facilities in large fields, such as smart grids, smart street lights, etc., allowing public facilities to connect to the same field network and achieve interoperability .

Application case introduction
corresponding power With the trend of liberalization, Japan adopted the Wi-SUN standard IEEE 802.15.4g in 2013 as the B Route (the interface path between smart meters and home energy management systems (HEMS)) wireless communication technology standards. The
Wi-SUN communication protocol is gradually introduced into the smart meter application under the promotion of the Japanese government, and it has recently expanded its application to the smart home field. Due to the long transmission distance and power saving characteristics of this online technology, it is expected to show its talents in the field of smart homes.
As the penetration rate of Wi-SUN technology in the Japanese regional market gradually increases, the unit price competitiveness of this module will also gradually increase. It is expected to compete with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi by 2022 and become an important universal communication protocol.
Putongxin brings Wi-SUN to debut!
After years of accumulation and iteration of R&D, the R&D team of Legoon has fully mastered the technical characteristics of Wi-SUN, and provides high-performance, low-power wireless transceivers and MCUs. The products have the best sensitivity, selectivity, Adjacent channel suppression, anti-blocking, in line with the 802.15.4g standard, and the product has passed Wi-SUN Alliance certification and FAN certification.
The main technology of VC7300 series of Wi-SUN product line of Tongxin can be long-distance transmission. At the same time, it has strict information security protection mechanism, so that information will never leak. In addition, the VC7300 series consumes low power and consumes less than 2.5uA in sleep mode. Incorporated into the IoT design, the battery life can be as long as 10 years. It can also be connected and interactively operated with other Wi-SUN FAN certified devices. Application areas include sensors in meters, street lights, smart cities, utilities, and IoT networks.
Tongxin deploys a mesh network of 1,000 Wi-SUN nodes in Haixing Hangzhou office areaIt successfully demonstrated very short networking time, adaptive capabilities, robust data collection and reliable remote firmware upgrades, and assisted customers in developing smart grid and IoT-related products with Wi-SUN communication solutions.
