[ Global Network Technology Comprehensive Report] On July 7, according to foreign media reports, Apple iOS 16 Beta 3’s internal code shows that Apple may support adding Safari for Virtual card for online shopping to increase the security of online shopping.
It is understood that virtual cards are offered by some banks and card providers as an option to generate an alternative number for a user's credit or debit card. If a user's card data is compromised, the virtual card number can simply be canceled without having to apply for a new card from the bank. Some banks also offer the option to generate a single-use card number.
foreign media said that in the code seen in the latest iOS 16 beta version, Safari will eventually provide support for virtual card numbers. Of course, Apple Pay already provides a security number with every transaction, but this new feature works on sites that don't accept Apple Pay.
At this time, it's unclear whether this feature will be available to everyone, or whether it will require approval from banks and card providers.
