According to telecompaper website on October 27, NXP Semiconductors announced a new Matter IoT development platform to simplify and accelerate the creation of smart homes and smart building IoT devices. The company said the new Matter development platform enables designers to leverage NXP’s broad portfolio of processing, connectivity and security products to create a wide variety of IoT devices, from battery-powered devices such as sensors to routers and complex gateways responsible for controlling IoT components.

The new Matter platform is designed within the Connection Standards Alliance (CSA) by a consortium of industry leaders including NXP. NXP claims that this platform "brings a new era for the interoperability of the Internet of Things" and reduces the limitations on how devices communicate. This will give smart home and construction end users the flexibility to select smart devices from different vendors and control them from multiple platforms or ecosystems without worrying about compatibility.
