It is understood that this research was completed by Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine . After inspecting and sorting specimens and conducting molecular phylogenetic analysis, scientific researchers discovered that the fish of the subfamily Dauphinae collected in Cailao Village, Fengcheng Town, Fengshan County, is a new species. This new species has a specialized lower lip with a sucker structure and a well-developed upper lip. After comparison with other taxa with suckers, it was confirmed that it does not belong to any currently known genus, so a new genus was created called "Cinnamon Cuttlefish" and the new species was named.

In recent years, new fish species have been discovered in Guangxi, such as Duan blue dace, Jingxi Zuojiang fish, Hechi cave loach, etc. According to reports, the subfamily Cyprinidae belongs to the family Cyprinidae. It is a type of small and medium-sized freshwater fish that adapts to flowing water environments and mainly feeds on algae. Species of this subfamily are widely distributed in southern Eurasia and central Africa. Due to their special adaptation to the environment, their species have extremely high diversity in oral structures. Currently, there are more than 40 genera and 400 species. .
