Today, when the pace of life is getting faster and faster, we are facing more and more changes. When faced with some sudden changes, we will inevitably fall into anxiety and uneasiness.

How to deal with anxiety?

A few years ago I studied in India. In order to have a quiet study space, I specifically told the company's management to handle the company's affairs by myself and not to contact me.

Unfortunately, during his study, he received a call from a colleague in the company. He was nervous and told me something big, so he had to call me for help. It turned out that the 12th Practical Psychology Conference we hosted originally invited Teacher A to be the main speaker, but he had something to do and could not attend.

However, the publicity of the conference has been fully launched, and all tickets have been sold, and some people are coming for him. What should I do? The colleagues in charge of this conference don’t know what to do? So I fell into deep anxiety, unable to eat well, unable to sleep well, toss and turn, unable to sleep all night.

change is the only unchanging law in this world!

Especially today, when the pace of life is getting faster and faster, we are facing more and more changes. Faced with some sudden changes, people will inevitably fall into anxiety and uneasiness.

Anxiety affects our sleep, it will reduce people's immunity, directly affect people's physical health, and also seriously reduce the quality of life of modern people. What should we do when faced with anxiety?

I remember that an institution planned an activity called "Escape from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen", which received positive responses from many young people, so many people left the metropolis and went to the countryside.

But, how long can you escape? Just like every Spring Festival, I believe many friends have this feeling. When they return to the countryside, they live a natural and relaxed life, but after the New Year, they will start to feel nervous and feel full of pressure.

Can you live only by returning to the countryside? Living in the city, facing fast pace and high technology, can’t you enjoy life?

Especially in recent years, people in metropolitan cities have been shrouded in anxiety. Prophet Kevin Kelly said that 80% of work in the future will be replaced by machines. The rapid updates and iterations of new technologies have made people feel a sense of crisis about the future. Technology was originally intended to serve human beings, but at the same time, technology has also become a crisis that plagues people's lives.

How can you enjoy scientific and technological achievements without being threatened by technology? This is a topic we must face. Today, with the pace getting faster and faster, how should we return to life from anxiety?

To answer this question, we must first distinguish between "fear" and "anxiety".

People who have not studied psychology often confuse these two concepts. If we sort out these two concepts, we can easily get out of our anxiety.

"Fear" is a state of psychological activity of humans and organisms. It is a strongly suppressed emotional experience of fear and fear when people face a certain dangerous situation and try to get rid of the fear and are powerless. Fear is what we usually call "fear".

"Anxiety" is the basic human emotions developed by humans in the process of fighting with the environment and adapting to survival. It is an emotional response to potential challenges or threats in reality, and a general reaction of a person when facing events or situations that he cannot control.

In general, moderate anxiety has positive significance. It can fully mobilize the skills of various organs of the body and moderately improve the brain's reaction speed and alertness. However, long-term or excessive anxiety will have an impact on people's health and quality of life.

Anxiety is a reaction developed by humans for survival. In order to obtain a better chance of survival, humans can fully mobilize their physical functions to cope with changes in the environment.

However, people living in metropolitans today are not threatened by survival every day, and the brain will misjudgment about some changes that survival is threatened, which makes the body in a long-term alert state. This state will seriously consume the body's energy. When we are in such a state of survival, how can we live?

Fear is a response to the threat of the present, while anxiety is a response to possible threats in the future. When we can recognize the difference between "fear" and "anxiety", we know how to deal with these two emotions.

First of all, we need to know that there is nothing wrong with fear. Many times I hear people say that it would be great if I had no fear.

Even we have some common sayings like "Oh, you coward", and it seems that timid is not good. In fact, these are all misunderstandings or misleadings about the emotion of fear. Fear has its inherent function. Without fear, we humans may have less possibility of survival.

For example, when we see a snake, we will be afraid and afraid, so we will avoid it to ensure that our lives are not threatened. For example, when we see an explosion, we will be afraid, so we will escape to save our chances of survival.

If you are not afraid of the threat that occurs at the moment, for example, if you are not afraid of a tiger and still get close to it, then you may be dead.

We must learn to accept fear, and even be grateful for fear. Because fear will protect our survival, fear is a natural response to the current threat. When the threat is lifted, fear will naturally disappear, and fear will not bother our lives.

And "anxiety" is different. Anxiety is a foreseeable threat to what has not happened in the future. This is a fear imagined by the brain. The future has not come yet, so anxiety will always exist and consume the energy in our lives.

When we are anxious, all the focus is on a possible loss and may be threatened. All negative focus, we do not have enough energy to think of solutions to deal with the future.

So, when anxiety consumes our energy, we have no energy to solve the problem, and we will be really threatened in the future.

Anxiety was originally a brain response mechanism for humans to obtain better survival opportunities and fully mobilize their physical functions to cope with environmental changes. However, the excessive reaction of this mechanism has just played the opposite role, and it consumed the energy of life prematurely. When the threat of life really came, it was no longer able to deal with it. This is the paradox of anxiety.

When we can perceive this, when we feel anxious, focus back on the present and ask ourselves, what should we do now in the face of possible threats in the future? What can I do now to reduce possible future losses? So your focus goes back to the solution, rather than wasting your energy on unnecessary worries.

Back to the case at the beginning of this article, when I heard my colleague's panicked call in India, I felt that he was in a high degree of anxiety. Although I was too, I could sense my anxiety.

When I clearly noticed it, I took a deep breath and asked myself: What can I do now? Who can replace Teacher A?

So I thought of a series of solutions, temporarily put down the course I was studying, and started to contact several alternative candidates. When the information and emails were sent out, my heart quickly calmed down, let go of this matter, and returned to my class.

Early the next morning, I received various responses one after another. Finally, I decided to ask other teachers to rescue the scene. Then I notified my colleagues in the company to start notifying customers who have purchased tickets one by one, and sincerely apologize to the customers. For customers who do not accept the changes, I will immediately start the refund process.

At the same time, a new round of publicity was started and ticket sales were resold to the market to make up for the loss of ticket refunds. The whole process was carried out in an orderly manner. Although the conference was affected to a certain extent, it was still successfully held and received a lot of praise from the participants.

When we are caught by anxiety, we are controlled by anxiety.

When we can see that anxiety is fear of what has not happened, we will return to the current solution. Once we return to the present, there will be many solutions. After we can find the solution, we will start to calm down, so life begins to live in the present and will no longer be anxious. This is the solution to anxiety.

The future that most of us are worried about now is something that may not necessarily happen. More than 80% of them, or even 90%, are created by our brains.

If we can perceive this, put our worries about the future back to the present, and find some solutions, we can deal with our lives calmly and calmly. Even if we live in a noisy big city, we can enjoy the present and life just like living in a natural and relaxed environment in the countryside.

If people can jump out of fear and anxiety about the future, then our family will be happier and the world will be more peaceful.

If you live in fear of the future, people will be in a state of survival and feel that there are crises everywhere. So, life can start with being aware of your anxiety. END
