"Since last week, our beds have been full. There are more than 40 critically ill patients in the two hospitals. The workload is almost four to five times that of usual. The medical staff in the department are basically infected with the new coronavirus and they all work while sick." Chen Xiaohong, head nurse of the Department of Critical Care Medicine of Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang Medical College) said.
With the surge in critically ill patients, the workload of nurses has skyrocketed, and most nurses have become "sick". ICU is faced with the dilemma of attrition at any time.

Although with the support of the hospital, the head nurse actively mobilizes hospital resources and manpower, it is still a drop in the bucket in the face of the huge daily workload. Despite the shortage of manpower, insufficient resources, and suffering from illness, the nurses in the Department of Critical Care Medicine not only did not shrink back, but faced the difficulties head on. Many people suffered from high fever, cough, and chest tightness, but after taking the medicine, their body temperature dropped to a barely bearable range, and they rushed to work immediately. They even contacted the head nurse and asked to return to work as soon as possible. In the most serious case, nurse Wu Shaoxia almost fainted in the office. After taking a short rest, she immediately returned to work.

"Head nurse, I feel very sick at home. I have a cough and a fever. I can't sleep all night. My lungs are about to be coughed up. My parents are afraid that something will happen to me and don't want me to come to work, but everyone is sick. , They are fighting hard, and I can't rest at home alone." Li Qianwen, a nurse in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, felt sad as she watched the messages in the group that kept beating every day. Although she was suffering from physical pain, she thought of the comrades who had been with her day and night in the past, and hoped to return to work as soon as possible and fight side by side with them again.
The nurses who are studying there have never shied away from it and completed their work without any complaints. "The nurses in our department are very hard-working. Each one of them has to take care of four or five patients, all of whom are in extremely critical condition. Our girl was originally a training nurse, and now she is working alone with us. She is fighting hard like us and does not shirk. She has a fever of 39.2°C and continues to work after taking antipyretics." Nurse Wu Qianqian said this about Tang Yuping, a training nurse in her group.
In the face of difficulties, nurses actively dedicated themselves and united as one, using their delicate arms to support the patients. I hope this cold winter will pass soon, and the warm sunshine will spread all over the world soon, and everyone can live healthily and happily under the sunshine.
