02 Macro and microscopic, human and universe
The physics knowledge learned in high school was returned to the teacher early, so when I read professional terms such as electrons, protons, neutrons, quantum mechanics , wave-particle duality mentioned in science fiction works, I was already confused. I can only understand what is described in the book by imagination. A noun is mentioned in the book
: macro electrons - electrons at macro scales. An electron that can be observed by the naked eye.
can also diverge from macro electrons to macro atoms, macro matter, and macro world, a world that our eyes can see but cannot see.
Every time I think of Einstein 's words in his later years: "Every leaf outside the window makes human science seem so naive and powerless."
The particles in the microscope form matter, and the observed matter is the basic unit in the macroscope. Assuming that a certain particle in the microscope can be directly observed by the eyes, the macroscope will also become mysterious. It is really interesting to be a substance that can be observed but cannot be observed.
If there is "living life" that cannot be observed in the macro world, they live with us, but they are not in our eyes, cameras, or even satellite , under the observation of alien civilizations, this is not more confusing than the theory of parallel worlds.
03 Imagination and works
Da Liu is an excellent writer. Even a physical idiot like me can imagine a world he built through his text descriptions.
The world is based on reality and transcends existing technology. With its solid knowledge and boundless description, we can imagine surreal inventions, a group of scientists who work hard and persist in the back of these inventions. In a grand world, the power of human beings is small and great.
Sometimes I think about how small microscopic "particles" we are to this universe, and how important macroscopic "electrons" we are to ourselves! .
