The institution has conducted a "Adult Text Understanding Ability Survey" every three years since 2014. From October 2020 to January 2021, a survey conducted on 14,000 adults over 18 years old across South Korea showed that 20.2% of adults who need to study at primary or junior high school levels accounted for 20.2%, about 8.9 million. In other words, one out of every five Koreans does not have the sufficient writing comprehension required for daily life.
