This survey is a major measure taken by Chengdu as a pilot demonstration area for high-quality construction of the Giant Panda National Park in Sichuan Province. It is the first comprehensive and in-depth background resource survey launched in Sichuan Province since the establishment of the Giant Panda National Park.

According to reports, the Giant Panda National Park has superior natural ecological conditions, rich species diversity, high ecosystem integrity and good authenticity. This survey aims to gain a more systematic and comprehensive understanding of the overall situation of animals, plants, and environmental resources in the area, and to further conduct in-depth research and carry out all-round protection work.

This survey includes 7 main contents including plant species, vegetation, vertebrates, arthropods, alien species, and landscape structure. It is reported that the background resource survey project in the Chengdu area of ​​the Giant Panda National Park will last for two years and will last until June 2024. The scope of the investigation covers the entire Chengdu area of ​​the Giant Panda National Park, involving four counties (cities) including Chongzhou, Dayi, Pengzhou, and Dujiangyan. The survey content mainly includes the number and distribution of animals and plants, the number, distribution and protection level of key protected objects, types of pests and diseases, types and distribution of alien species, etc., and species cataloging is completed.
