From the so-called "finding pigs" to "raising pigs" to "killing pigs", such fraud cases show very obvious group-based and professional characteristics, and the result is often that the victims are cheated at high amounts, difficult to solve the case, and difficult to recover losses.

Through the QR code sent by Tian Xin, Ms. He entered the virtual room, and the "customer service" guided her to recharge the established account, and then started the game. "At the beginning, I invested several thousand yuan, and I did get the money back. He encouraged me to invest again, and invested more than 10,000 yuan in the past and afterwards." Ms. He said that she had checked online that " Tencent " does have this product, and Tian Xin also bets one after another in the later period, so she believed it without doubt. As the betting amount increased, Ms. He, who lacked financial resources, had to withdraw cash loans from various channels under the guidance of Tian Xin, and borrowed a lot of money from relatives and friends, raising more than 170,000 yuan.
One night, Tian Xin sent the QR code on time. Ms. He continued to bet. She thought she could earn more cash, but found that the background was closed later, and Tian Xin ignored her anymore. "I realized that this was a scam at that time. I also found out on the Internet that this was a 'pig killing trash', which was particularly desperate." Ms. He said that for more than a year after being deceived, she was often depressed and her monthly salary was used to repay the loan.
"It's not only the economic losses that make me suffer. I almost have the desire to commit suicide when I think of the people who give their feelings to deceive me like this. I often wake up from nightmares in the middle of the night." Ms. He said that she felt that she was "the best one to cheat" and felt very embarrassed - from "love" to being blocked by the other party, it took only 15 days.
Ms. He is a victim of the "3.28" major cross-border telecommunications network fraud case supervised by the Ministry of Public Security. The perpetrators of the case cast a wide net on the online social platform. In the name of love, they are close to the age of 25 to 40 or have a single or emotionally empty woman, luring the other party to participate in online gambling to make money together, and then block them.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Xiji County People's Court of Ningxia, who announced the first instance verdict of the case, from April 2019 to the onset of the case, the 196 victims of this "pig killing" case were defrauded of more than 27.96 million yuan in total.
Compared with most victims, Ms. He was defrauded by a relatively small amount. Some victims have been defrauded by more than 2 million yuan in the past six months. As long as the "lovers" say, "I lost too, it doesn't matter, we can make a profit again", many victims will believe it and bet again. Some criminals will also lurk in platforms or chat groups where victims of "pig killing" gather to protect their rights, pretending to be professionals, and lied that they can help the victim recover their losses and make the victim deceived again.

A reporter from Banyuetan found that as a new type of online fraud crime, every link of the "pig killing" shows obvious characteristics of group and professional crime.
Zeng and Zhong, who have been arrested, were once the "boss" of the "3.28" major cross-border telecommunications network fraud case. After the two of them had the idea of making money by operating online gambling, they smuggled to Myanmar, rented two floors, established the "Treasure God International Group", purchased and borrowed a large number of bank cards, social platform accounts, mobile phone cards, etc., and purchased malicious gambling software that could operate the backend at will, and then began to "recruit troops."
Through continuous development of "downline", the company has gradually formed a criminal group with the boss, director, finance, agent, group leader, and group members as the organizational structure, with clear hierarchy and strict management, and has formed multiple fraud groups. "The person who chats with you seems to be the same person, but in fact there is a professional team behind it." Bu Xuwei said.
Judging from the "3·28" case, most of the fraudsters are young people who have no formal jobs. They are dissatisfied with the status quo and fantasize about "get rich overnight." Zhang, who graduated from a technical school and worked as a chef, often complained about his life in his circle of friends, was targeted by his classmate Ma. Under Ma's coaxing and tricking, he smuggled to Myanmar and became a member of the "God of Wealth International". Bu Xuwei said that a defendant could not bear to continue to cheat the victim in the middle of the process, and revealed to the other party that he was a liar, but the other party believed that he was a "tall, rich and handsome". Ms. He recalled: "It was like a devil who was led by the other party. He deliberately neglected me, but I was even more devoted. In fact, I didn't even know whether the other party was a man or a woman."
When the other party felt emotionally dependent on him, the fraudster would pretend that he was busy making money, which aroused the other party's curiosity. Once the other party takes the bait, they send the prepared materials to the other party, saying that they have discovered loopholes in the investment and financial management platform. When faced with the trap, they will implement policies in a classified manner: some people block her if they recharge once; some people need to go long-term, first invest themselves to "test the waters" for her, so that she can feel trustworthy, and then give her a little rebate, tell her to withdraw money after investing more, until she feels that she is exhausted and blocked.
The professionalism of the "pig killing plate" is also reflected in the clear division of labor in each link. According to Zhang's confession, general employees are only responsible for "raising pigs", and when it comes to the "pig killing" stage, they are handed over to the team leader. Guo Jun, deputy director of Xiji County People's Court, said that the "3.28" case is the most complicated case he has encountered in his 28 years of employment. Compared with traditional telecommunications fraud, there are mainly the following difficulties in solving the "pig killing" case.
——It is difficult to investigate and collect evidence in cross-border crimes. According to the defendant in the case, online gambling and other acts are legal in some countries, and practitioners need to pay taxes to the government regularly, so many people smuggled out to engage in telecommunications fraud. Domestic police find it difficult to investigate cross-border, and most of the criminals' tools (mobile phones, computers, etc.) are prohibited from taking them out of their workplaces, so it is difficult to collect evidence. This case solved is an "unexpected gain" when investigating other cases, and since each defendant cannot understand the specific amount of fraud, conviction and sentencing are more difficult.
