[Global Times Comprehensive Report] On the evening of the 1st, the General Administration of Customs of the Mainland suspended the import of more than 100 foods in Taiwan, which attracted strong attention on the island. Some public opinion said that this is a serious suspension of input after fruits and aquatic products produced in Taiwan.
The General Administration of Customs of the Mainland announced on the evening of the 1st that some Taiwanese manufacturers violated relevant regulations and urgently stopped input. This is based on the "Regulations on the Registration and Management of Overseas Production Enterprises of Imported Food of the People's Republic of China" No. 248 of the General Administration of Customs of the Mainland, products of Taiwanese manufacturers that have not completed renewal registration are restricted from being imported into the mainland. Taiwan United News Network said on the 2nd that many food operators on the island have been changed to "suspended imports" in the mainland General Administration of Customs, including Weige Cake, Guo Yuanyi Food, Weili Food, Weiquan Food and Taishan Enterprise.
"Director of the International Department of the Committee of Agriculture" Lin Jiarong said on the 2nd that the preliminary determination that the suspension of input was because the mainland required food sold to the mainland to be registered last year, and some practitioners may not complete the supplement as scheduled. According to Taiwan's Zhongshi Electronic News , according to mainland requirements, starting from January 1 this year, 18 specific foods must be recommended by the exporter's competent authority before they can be sold to the mainland.

Taiwan's "Committee of Agriculture" said on the 2nd that the severely affected agricultural products on the island include aquatic products, honey and tea. Among them, there are many aquatic products, including live fish, fresh refrigerated fish, frozen fish, dried fish, mixed fish, canned fish, etc. In addition to the banned grouper , fish exported to the mainland, fish products also include tuna , bonito, halibut, saury , etc. "How wide is the scope of ban? The Fisheries Department is still under investigation." Cai Baoxing, Director-General of the Ryukyu District Fisheries Association, said that fish goods should be exported to the mainland. At the beginning, the Fisheries Department required fishermen and fishing boats to register on the website provided by the Fisheries Department. However, why did some fishing boats not be able to export later? Is there something missing or what certificates have expired? I have to ask the Fisheries Department.
Zheng Jinkun, chairman of Taiwan Beekeeping Association, said that the honey production on the island is insufficient, with an annual output of about 80 million to 10,000 tons. The very few that can be exported have no special impact on beekeepers in theory. However, some operators are Taiwanese, but they may be affected by beekeeping in Thailand and then sold to mainland China. As for the tea part, a certain central industry believes that some of the high-mountain tea and high-end markets with an altitude of more than 2,000 meters are sold to the mainland, and such businesses and tea farmers will be affected.
The baking industry on the island suffered heavy losses. According to the official website of the General Administration of Customs of the Mainland, among the 107 Taiwanese manufacturers with registered numbers in mainland China, 35 of them have shown “suspended imports” in the product category. Guo Yuanyi, the head of Guo Yuanyi Food, said that he received the news on the 2nd that the sales items include pineapple crisps , etc. Weili’s official website shows that the company’s products are mainly exported to the mainland, with a total of 9 strongholds. If they cannot be exported, they may suffer heavy losses. Taiwan Economic Daily said on the 2nd that according to statistics from Taiwan’s “Ministry of Finance”, most of the banned products are “made food” in the product category. Last year, Taiwan exported about US$2.02 billion in prepared food throughout the year, of which 650 million US dollars were exported to the mainland and Hong Kong, accounting for 32%, accounting for about 30% to 40% in recent years. It can be said to be one of the most important export markets for prepared food.
In response to the mainland's ban on Taiwan's food import, Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe, a DPP, stubbornly claimed on the 2nd that Taiwan's food factories have strong adaptability and the authorities should be the strongest backing. "We are not afraid of such quasi-sanctions as China (mainland)." However, Xu Shubo, chairman of the Taiwan Business Association, believes that regional peace and stability will only help Taiwan's economy and trade. The mainland bans import of products from hundreds of food factories, and the impact on food operators and the vast number of farmers and fishermen will be immediately revealed. The head of a major food factory in central China lamented after receiving inquiries from Taiwanese media reporters, "The government itself wants to do this and let the people suffer, it's awful."
United News Network html said on the 32nd that since last year, the mainland has banned the import of Taiwan's pineapple, Saga , Wax and grouper due to pests and diseases, the use of banned drugs, etc.Chen Jizhong, the chairman of the Taiwan Agriculture Committee, estimated in April that the next step of exporting grouper, Wuzai fish , citrus and Wendan products to 50% to 70% of the products in the mainland are the most risky, but "company measures are ready." As a result, the grouper was later forced to be assigned to Taiwanese school children nutritional lunch , and the "Commission of Agriculture" did not find any other major markets outside the mainland. The article said that once Taiwan’s agricultural products and aquatic products are stopped from exporting to the mainland, it will further blow to Taiwan’s food, agriculture and aquatic industries, and will also have a direct impact on Taiwan’s farmers and fishermen.
