Autumn wind blows, crab roe fragrance, and as soon as autumn comes, it is the season to eat crabs again. In the past, hairy crabs on the market were mainly southern varieties, but this year, a hairy crab from the Shoubei region of Weifang has aroused the interest of countless people. Weifang also has local hairy crabs? On September 13, a reporter from Qilu Evening News ·Qilu One Point visited the northern part of Shouguang in Weifang to visit the secrets of local hairy crabs in Weifang.

aims at business opportunities. Go back to your hometown to raise hairy crabs
Starting from Weifang city, drive north. After a 2-hour drive, I came to Beimuqiao Village, located in the north of Shouguang in Weifang. There are several open bay ponds around the village. If it weren’t for the introduction of nearby villagers, I really can’t tell that this is where hairy crabs grow.
Zhang Shumin, 47 years old this year, is the head of this farm and is a native of Beimuqiao Village. Before returning to the hometown to set up a breeding farm, Lao Zhang was the executive chef of a large hotel in Dongying . In his daily work, Lao Zhang found that hairy crabs are particularly popular with customers every autumn. Most of the hairy crabs on the market come from the south, and only a few of them come from the north, but hairy crabs from the north are more popular with customers than those in the south, which makes Lao Zhang feel the business opportunities hidden behind the hairy crabs.

"At that time, we found that the hairy crabs at the mouth of the Yellow River in Dongying had a better taste than the hairy crabs in the south and were more popular with customers. However, at that time, there were very few hairy crabs breeding in the northern region, so I thought this was a business opportunity." Zhang Shumin said. In 2013, Zhang Shumin contracted 40 acres of ponds in Dongying and started his own entrepreneurial journey. "Actually, I was unsure of doing it when I started it. I had never done it before, and I didn't know how the sales were. But I think this is an opportunity, and I must try it."
. The facts proved that Lao Zhang's step was completely correct. The nearly 10,000 kilograms produced that year were sold out, which further strengthened his confidence in continuing to work. In 2017, Lao Zhang returned to Beiqiao Wood Village, located in the Ecological Economic Development Center of Shuangwangcheng in the northern part of Shouguang. After some investigation, he found that the conditions in Qiaomu Village were very suitable for raising hairy crabs.
"The land in northern Shouguang is saline-alkali land, and the water has a certain degree of halogen, which is very suitable for the growth of hairy crabs." Lao Zhang told reporters that this time he contracted more than 200 acres of abandoned bay ponds around the village in one breath, and then renovated them to breed hairy crabs.
and Yangcheng Lake hairy crab are the same variety, and saltwater hairy crabs have better taste
Zhang Shumin told reporters that the hairy crabs they raise are the same variety as the hairy crabs from Yangcheng Lake are both Chinese mitten crabs, but the hairy crabs produced in Shoubei taste better than the hairy crabs produced in the south. This is because Weifang Shoubei is a salt-alkali land, and the water has a certain saltiness, so such waters are more suitable for the growth of hairy crabs. "Compared with the hairy crabs in the south, the hairy crabs we produce here are blue in color, the flesh is stronger and chewer; because the water in the south is sweet, the meat is relatively soft," said Lao Zhang.
Although hairy crabs are artificially stocked, they grow naturally and are cultivated ecologically. Compared with the breeding method of hairy crabs at the Yellow River mouth of Dongying, Lao Zhang has added elements suitable for Weifang. "Hairy crabs are easier to raise. In the early stage of feeding, there are many wild fish and shrimps in the Bay Pond, and the hairy crabs will be eaten." Zhang Shumin said that in the later stage of feeding, he prepared some corn, soybeans, frozen fish and to make the food, and placed them according to the growth cycle of the hairy crabs.

is different from the breeding of Yellow River Estuary hairy crabs in Dongying area. In the later feeding, Zhang Shumin chose corn with germ and then put it on after it is cooked. "Because corn has relatively rich nutrition, there will be more crab roe for feeding corn hairy crabs, and the overall taste will be better. This is related to the fact that we put in cooked corn." Lao Zhang said a little proudly.
has been shedding dozens of times from being placed to maturity. Shoubei hairy crabs are 50 yuan per catty.
The hairy crabs grown in northern salt water taste better than those grown in fresh water, and the hairy crabs grown in saline-alkali land in Shoubei have a more unique taste.Wang Wei, the business manager in charge of the sales of the farm, told reporters that the crab seedlings used in the breeding farm are now cultivated by them themselves. From the time the crab seedlings were placed in March to the time it was launched before the Mid-Autumn Festival, a hairy crab had to be shedded 8 to 14 times. The more times it was shedded, the bigger the crab was.
"Basically around the Mid-Autumn Festival, the crabs will stop peeling off their shells, and it is time to prepare for the market. The weight of the batch now is about three taels, and it can reach four taels or even half a pound if it is bigger. In a few days, it will be the fattest time for the crabs. By that time, the average weight of the crabs will be about half a pound." Wang Wei said with emotion in the face of the sparkling water surface in the bay pond. "At present, the output per mu is about 200 kilograms, and the 200 acres of water surface is conservatively estimated to have a yield of 40,000 kilograms. This year is another good harvest year."

Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, and hairy crabs from Shoubei have also begun to be launched one after another. Now Zhang Shumin can receive orders from all over the country every day and feel very happy. "Our hairy crabs are mainly sold locally. Many units come to group purchases during the Mid-Autumn Festival as a benefit, and there are also many orders from other parts of the country. I now have six agents, and I can send two or three thousand kilograms out every day, and the price per kilogram is about 50 yuan." Zhang Shumin said.
The autumn wind blows, and the crab roe is fat. This time of year is also the happiest time for crab farmers to feel. "A sip of crab roe and wine, every time I feel that the hard work of this year is worth it." Zhang Shumin sighed.
Zhang Shumin also had plans for future development. "In the future, we will use the abandoned bay ponds and ditches in several surrounding villages. The bay ponds can be used to breed hairy crabs, and the ditches can be used to breed yellow croaker and crayfish. This can not only increase the income of villagers, but also drive the development of other surrounding industries. This can be regarded as a small contribution we have made to rural revitalization." Zhang Shumin is full of confidence in the future development.
Under his description, a beautiful picture of water, crab fat, and ecological prosperity is slowly emerging in front of people...
