gate valve refers to the valve that moves in the vertical direction of the gate closing member in the center line of the passage. The structure of the gate valve is relatively simple. It is generally composed of several parts: the valve body, valve seat, valve stem, gate plate, valve cover, and sealing ring. The structural characteristics of the gate valve make it only have full opening or full closing operations in the pipeline, and cannot be adjusted or throttling.
working principle
In the valve body, a flat gate plate is installed in the direction of the medium flow direction, and the passage of the medium is opened or closed by the lifting and lowering of this gate plate.
It is widely used. Many gate valves are installed in the unit's water supply, main steam, condensate, steam extraction, air, circulating cooling water, shaft cold water and other systems. Gate valves are widely used in oil, natural gas and other conveying pipelines.
gate valve features
- gate valve structural features
Advantages:
- flow resistance. The media channel inside the valve body is straight through, the medium flows in a straight line, and the flow resistance is small; the direction of the gate plate movement is perpendicular to the direction of the media flow, the pressure is small, and opening and closing is more labor-saving;
- is not prone to water hammer phenomenon; the two sides of the gate valve channel are symmetrical, and the media can flow in any direction on both sides, which is convenient to install;
- has a short structural length, good manufacturing processability, and a wide range of applications.
Disadvantages:
- sealing surface is easy to wear, affecting the service life of the valve;
- opening and closing requires the gate plate to be fully opened and closed, and the gate plate opening and closing stroke is large and the opening and closing time is long.
- according to the gate structure form: single gate plate and double gate plate.
- can be divided into three types according to the valve core structure: wedge type, parallel type and elastic type.
- wedge-type gate plate refers to the two sealing surfaces of the gate plate at a certain angle; the two sealing surfaces of the parallel gate plate are parallel, and the elastic gate plate is equipped with springs between the two parallel gate plates.
- According to the structural form of the gate rod and whether the gate rod extends out of the valve body when the valve is opened, it can be divided into two categories: open rod type and hidden rod type. When the valve is opened, the valve stem extends out of the valve body is called the open rod type; the valve stem type does not extend out of the valve body is called the dark rod type.
- can form various structures in combination with the above various forms.
