In July 1985, in the spring breeze of reform of the Chinese nation, the first mechanized army of our army was announced, which marked another historical step in the modernization of the People’s Liberation Army.
Somewhere in North China, the sound of cannons rumbled and the smoke of gunpowder was filled with smoke. Our army's first mechanized army is holding a large-scale military exercise. I was fortunate to watch this modern three-dimensional "war" scene:
Hundreds of tanks painted with protection colors, armored vehicles, , self-propelled artillery , rocket mine laying vehicles, missile launch vehicles, chemical defense and disinfection vehicles, electronic interference vehicles, and thousands of transport vehicles, ambulances, command vehicles, communication vehicles, and construction machinery vehicles with camouflage networks are neatly arranged in the assembly camp, and tens of thousands of officers and soldiers with steel helmets on their heads are on high alert, fully demonstrating the new lineup of synthetic combat between the various armies. After the exercise began, tanks galloped and armored vehicles ran, and armed helicopter hovered in the air. More than 10 types of troops including artillery, engineering, chemical defense, scout, communications, etc., used various modern weapons to show their magical powers. On the
exercise field, modern reconnaissance methods such as radar, night vision equipment, aircraft cameras, etc. are refreshing. Electronic jamming vehicles disseminate electronic jamming on the Blue Army, and communication vehicles have opened up a field communication hub. Battlefield meteorological vehicles, chemical defense and disinfection vehicles, and field hospital series vehicles are also showing off their skills.
Automation Command Center is running nervously. One by one, the microcomputers are flashing, and communication lines and wireless networks lead to the forefront. The large-screen projector shows the terrain, landform of the Blue Army and the offensive route of the Red Army . The commander's commands and other combat documents are completed through a microcomputer. The military command post can directly talk to any front-line combat unit, command the troops of various military branches to form a strong overall strike force.
Red Army offensive began. The steel torrents formed by various chariots rushed towards the Blue Army with a rush of overwhelming force. Armed helicopters and powerful artillery groups carried out firepower attacks on the Blue Army positions, and tanks and armored vehicles covered the infantry and launched multiple attacks. Artillery shells, aviation bombs, missiles, and gun bullets caused the Blue Army's position to fall into a three-dimensional attack from the Red Army from the air to the ground, and soon collapsed.
What is the significance of establishing a mechanized army? Why choose this army? During the interview, I solved these questions step by step.
Mechanized Force refers to a highly synthetic force whose main equipment is powered by internal combustion engines and turbines, tracks as maneuverable style, and is characterized by accommodating a variety of advanced technologies. Its distinctive feature is its strong maneuverability. Since armored vehicles and artillery use tracks instead of rubber wheels, it can not only maneuver on urban roads, but also on complex terrains such as mountains, grasslands, and wilderness. Another distinctive feature is its strong protection ability. The on-board equipment of mechanized troops has armor protection and a strong fire control system, which can achieve both offense and defense; the third feature is that it integrates all military branches and maximizes the power of military branches. This kind of equipment that combines "spear" and "shield" into one, and the programming of the troops that combines various military services has become the best combination of modern warfare.
German tanks and soldiers
As early as World War I, the prototype of mechanized troops appeared in Britain. During World War II, mechanized troops first appeared in Germany in large numbers. Mechanized troops composed of more than 10,000 tanks, armored vehicles, and self-propelled artillery launched lightning attacks on neighboring countries, causing many European countries and the powerful Soviet Union to suffer the disaster of national destruction and national destruction. Subsequently, the Soviet army also formed a powerful mechanized force to counterattack the German army, attacked Berlin directly, and won the victory of World War II. After World War II, the militaries of countries around the world vigorously developed their own mechanized forces.
After the founding of New China, Chairman Mao Zedong began to pay attention to the formation of our army's mechanized troops. He specially transferred Chen Geng from the Korean battlefield back to the country and asked him to form Harbin Military Engineering College to take the lead in cultivating talents who control mechanized troops.Mao Zedong's speech to this institution stated: "In order to build a modern national defense, our army, air force and , and navy must have sufficient mechanized equipment and technology." In the 1950s, Mao Zedong also talked about the issue of building the mechanized troops of the Republic many times.
In March 1955, under the order of the Central Military Commission, with an infantry division as the main body, the equipment of the 7th Mechanized Division of the Soviet Army was officially established on April 15, which was under the leadership of the former Military Commission's Armored Soldier.

After the establishment of our army's 1st Mechanized Division, a total of 3 mechanized regiments were organized, each regiment added a medium-sized tank battalion, artillery battalion, and anti-aircraft artillery company; in addition, a medium-sized tank regiment was organized, , 1 heavy tank regiment, 1 anti-aircraft artillery regiment, and 2 artillery regiments were organized, and a total of 8 regiments were formed, becoming the most mechanized unit of various troops in our army's history, an important assault force to deal with emergencies. After the establishment of this division, it participated in the Liaodong Peninsula Anti-Landing Campaign exercise organized by the Training Directorate and directed by Ye Jianying in 1957. At the end of the exercise, General Peng Dehuai, He Long, Marshal Nie Rongzhen and General Luo Ruiqing inspected the troops and highly praised their success. In October 1958, the division conducted the "Mobile Action Warning of the Mechanized Division in the Coastal Defense Campaign". With the cooperation of the Air Force, the exercises were carried out continuously on airborne, counter-assault, and maneuvering combat in new directions. The exercises were maneuvered and combat deductions of 180 kilometers. The mechanized division's rapid maneuverability and overall assault capabilities left a deep impression on the observers. The exercises show that the division has become a mechanized unit with contractual combat capabilities.
But for various reasons, by the 1980s, our army had not had a mechanized army. This situation is not only incomparable to developed countries, but also in a backward state compared with neighboring countries. Among the countries around our country, except for the mechanization of the armies of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and other countries, the rest are 1 to 6 times higher than our army.
In 1983, it was planned to form a mechanized army and choose one of our army's army to rebuild the mechanized army. After repeated argumentation, this army was chosen because it had more suitable conditions than other troops:
