There are less than two months left before 2020. Lonely Planet recently released the world's best travel destinations in 2020, including the best travel countries list, the best travel city list, the best travel region list, etc.
Judging from the travel destinations on the list and the reasons for it, Lonely Planet’s attention to the sustainable development of tourist destinations and responsible travel is increasing.
- Top 10 best travel countries
The first place on the list this year is still the Asian country, Bhutan replaced Sri Lanka, the best travel country in 2019, occupying one of the list. Compared with last year, many African countries have become the highlight of this year, with a total of four countries being selected.
1.Bhutan
Reason for the list: Among more than a dozen countries competing for the title of "Shangri-La", Bhutan may be the most qualified--the mountains exuding the fragrance of pine wood, with many temples, the original ecological natural environment, Buddhist beliefs and high national happiness make Bhutan a modern peach blossom land. This small country located on the foothills of the Himalayas implements a strict "high-value, low-impact" tourism policy. The government stipulates the minimum daily consumption cost of tourists (not less than US$250 in the peak season and not less than US$200 in the off-season. The fees include accommodation, three meals, transportation, tour guides and attractions tickets, etc.) to control the number of tourists and reduce the negative impact on the local environment.
2. England
Reason for the list: The coastline that was once used to resist invaders has become a peaceful landscape of the country. Walking on the pier with sea breezes, enjoying delicious fresh food and French fries, exploring marine life in rock pools, discovering fossils on ancient cliffs, and building sand castles on the beach. By 2020, new sections of England Coast Highway will continue to open, and this coastline will bring more fun to travelers.
3. North Macedonia
reason for being on the list: After decades of political debate with the bordering Greek , North Macedonia changed its national name to its current name from February 12, 2019. Before its name change, North Macedonia was already known for its food, ancient traditions and natural scenery, but cultural enthusiasts and adventurers found new reasons to travel to the country in 2020 - the UNESCO-protected Lake Ohrid and the High Scardus Trail.
4. Aruba

The newly named Swatini Kingdom (formerly Swaziland) is one of the most underrated or least visited destinations in southern Africa. To attract tourists, Svathini built a new international airport, improving the road infrastructure between the airport, nature reserve and the capital.
6. Costa Rica
Reason for the list: Sustainable tourism is a banner of Costa Rica. Slots, red-eyed tree frogs, whales... The biodiversity of this country continues to attract adventurers. The Costa Ricans knew the importance of protecting this tropical paradise and found their way, from leafcutting ants to jaguars - introducing other species while maintaining ecological balance. Ninety percent of Costa Rie's energy is produced by renewable resources, and by 2020, the country could become one of the first carbon-neutral countries.
7. Netherlands
Reason for the list: 2020 is the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, and related celebrations are being prepared across the Netherlands. In addition to the vibrant capital Amsterdam, the Netherlands’ developed train network can make it easier for travelers to travel to other cities to participate in a series of celebrations.
8.Liberia
Reason for the list: For those who don’t know much about this country, Liberia may be a somewhat mysterious country. But for those who are familiar with this country, the natural wonders here, wild animals such as pygmy hippos, the second largest primitive rainforest in West Africa, and the optimistic and cheerfulness of the locals are all unique charms of this country. In addition, Liberia and Norway have reached a development agreement to stop all deforestation by 2020 to protect the natural environment.
9. Morocco
reason for being on the list: Morocco has a long history of attractions, sustainable and trendy accommodation, and a seaside health resort that combines yoga and surfing. And thanks to improvements in infrastructure, travelers can now travel more easily through the road. With the opening of Africa's first high-speed rail, it only takes two hours to get from Casablanca to Tangier .
10. Uruguay
Reasons for the list: 660 kilometers of La Plata River and the Atlantic coastline, the endless Pampas grassland, the rapid development of the wine industry and hot hot springs, and the continuous pastures, Uruguay can satisfy all travelers.
