It was the time of July when we were in the hottest, we met in Lingnan resort and the charm of Liuzhou. We successfully held the "Imagine China·Hundred Newspapers Focus on Liuzhou" event and the China Municipal Daily Newspaper Newspaper Summit and Tourism Photography Forum, and also selected the Municipal Daily Newspaper Newspaper Page Award. Many news photography topics were discussed at the summit and forums, including the macro situation and trends of news photography in the city and city newspapers, the execution characteristics and innovation of the policy of focusing on both pictures and texts in the transformation period, the appreciation of the fruits of news photography in the city and city newspapers, the three-dimensional thinking of graphic media and newspaper interaction, the editorial ideas of the special edition of news photography, tapping the image potential of regional culture, and establishing local news tourism photography magazines and self-driving tourism photography, etc., and gaining a lot.
Here, I would like to remind everyone to pay attention to the macro situation and trends of news photography in prefecture-level newspapers. Most of the people here are journalists, and we are engaged in news photography in paper media. At present and in the future, the newspaper industry faces severe situation and challenges from multiple parties. The emerging media has come from behind and squeezed out the traditional media market, and the global financial crisis has made the newspaper industry worse. Print media, which has a history of more than 400 years, has lost to the century-old electronic media (TV media mainly based on radio and television), and has lost to the online media, which has a history of only more than 10 years and streaming media that has a history of more than 10 years. As a result, there has been a dispute over whether the newspaper industry will decline or reorganize or revitalize in the industry, academia and society. I prefer the latter.
How can the newspaper industry survive and develop sustainably in a crisis? I think we must play to our strengths and avoid our weaknesses and reorganize and revitalize. Although print media is not as good as electronic media, online media and streaming media in terms of news timeliness, visual impact and interactive communication, they also have their own unique advantages. For example, the audience can read and obtain information from print media (can be seen ten lines at a glance) faster than that of electric media; it can carry newspapers freely, unlike electric media, online media, and streaming media that are limited by equipment and power supply; in terms of the source of news information, online media and others rely on reprinting other media due to their weak editorial ability, etc. The originality, excellence, authority and in-depth reporting of print media news, especially the advantages of human resources, are difficult for other media to overcome. The newspaper industry has great potential to play to its strengths and avoid its weaknesses in effectively controlling the pace of information dissemination, ensuring the recycling of information resources, ensuring the right to dispose of information, and expanding the popularity of originating media. At the same time, the newspaper industry has great potential to learn from its strengths and weaknesses in developing multimedia and building all-media.
