The American green iguana belongs to Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Wild Animals and belongs to a national second-class protected animal. The suspect in the case, Wang Mouyang, male, 26 years old, from Zichuan District, Zibo City; Li Mou, male, 31 years old, from Jinnan, Tianjin; Li Moujie, male, 28 years old, from Binhai New District, Tianjin, are all young people born in the 1990s. Because of his personal hobby of raising and buying and selling pet American green iguanas, the actions of the three suspects violated the provisions of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, and were all suspected of endangering precious and endangered wild animals. On September 8, after the Boshan District People's Court ruled in accordance with the law, Wang Mouyang was sentenced to six months of detention, nine months of probation, and a fine of RMB 10,000; Li Mou was sentenced to nine months of imprisonment, one year of three months of probation, and a fine of RMB 15,000; Li Moujie was sentenced to six months of imprisonment, one year of probation, and a fine of RMB 10,000.
