Draymond Green has been fined, but will not be suspended by Golden State Warriors for last week's violent blow to teammate Jordan Poole .
coach Steve Kerr said after Tuesday's pre-season win over Portland that Green will resume training on Thursday, then representing the defending NBA title against Denver on Friday night and playing again in the season opener against Lakers on Tuesday. Kerr, General Manager Bob Myers and the players have met to decide how to do it best – including Green and Poole talking to each other.
"We feel like we have a good feeling for the team. Our team has a lot of continuity, so Bob and I know our players very well," Kerr said. "We think it's the best way to go after evaluating everything we're moving forward. In this case, no matter what decision you make, it's never easy. It won't be perfect. It's the biggest crisis we've ever experienced since I was coaching. It's really serious."
Since the argument, Green has been away from the team and has been working out alone every day.
Neither player was injured. The hot green has been a key veteran, defensive leader, and part of the Golden State Warriors’ four-time champion in eight seasons.
Kerr added about the team's decision: "Any criticism we face here is fair." He noted that with regard to punishment, "everything is on the table."
Sophomore guard Moses Moody said he was ready to welcome Green back.
