In the early morning of September 12, Times Higher Education (THE) released the 2020 World University Rankings. Oxford University , Caltech and Cambridge University rank among the top three in the world. In addition, the number of universities on the list in mainland China has increased significantly this year, from 72 to 81.

This ranking covers more than 1,300 universities from 92 countries, and is the largest number of universities covered so far.
Tsinghua University and Pekinghua University entered the top 30 of the list, ranking 23rd and 24th in respectively. Tsinghua University still ranks first in Asian universities this year, and Peking University has also risen in the world university rankings. At the same time, these two universities also ranked the top two in Asia.
There are a total of seven universities in mainland China entering the top 200 universities in the world, with the same number as last year. In addition to Tsinghua University, other mainland Chinese universities that have successfully entered the top 200 universities in the world include University of Science and Technology of China, Zhejiang University , Fudan University , Nanjing University and Shanghai Jiaotong University .
