Speaking of forensics, most people may have a character in their minds: through clues, they can infer the time of death, the identity of the corpse, and the image of chasing the murderer for thousands of miles through a drop of blood, a strand of hair.

There is also such a forensic doctor - Li Xuerong, in the High-tech Public Security Bureau of Chengdu Public Security Bureau. Born in 1991, she is a police auxiliary staff member of the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the High-tech Industrial Development Zone Branch of Chengdu Public Security Bureau. She is also a master's student in , School of Basic Medicine and Forensics, Sichuan University.
Since July 2015, she has been engaged in forensic autopsy (including autopsy test, anatomy test and pathological test) and judicial appraisal related work. She has examined more than 1,400 autopsies, participated in autopsy in many difficult and major cases, and has accumulated a lot of forensic practical work experience. On July 15, a reporter from Cover News took you into such a female forensic doctor born in the 1990s to see how many mysterious stories there are behind her?
Talk about work background:
Forensic Master's degree as an auxiliary policeman
90 girl has had a "forensic dream" since she was a child
Working in forensics is always something that ordinary people are puzzled. For Li Xuerong, she has had a strong interest in the mystery of the human body and the colorful creatures since she was a child.
She often thinks about the meaning of life, what is death? If she is engaged in clinical medicine, she will inevitably witness the process of life from freshness to death. Perhaps she cannot bear to watch life pass away. In the end, she chose the forensic major, hoping to interpret the information left by the lost life.
In March 2021, Li Xuerong entered the High-tech Branch of Chengdu Public Security Bureau to participate in public security work, mainly responsible for daily forensic corpses on-site inspection, forensic examination and identification, forensic laboratory operation and management, and forensic related scientific research.
This is not her first time in contact with forensic work.

In the undergraduate stage, Li Xuerong passed every compulsory and elective course with excellent results. In the fifth year of undergraduate studies, Li Xuerong successfully obtained the recommended qualification without examination through layers of selection and entered the teaching and research department of Forensic Pathology of our college, and studied for a master's degree in forensic medicine (forensic pathology).
Because of the practical nature of the discipline of forensics, the importance of prosecution work in improving personal abilities. After participating in the forensic examination, we have to face a large number of real cases and the most acute social conflicts every day, and communicate with the client and the person being identified, skills and methods of autopsy and material extraction, reading and diagnosis of pathological tissue sections, and analysis and writing of the identification report are new challenges every day.
Li Xuerong flexibly plans his time, do things that cannot be done during the day and things that cannot be done on weekends, even if he has to work overtime or stay up late, he will not lower his standards for himself and do every case seriously and responsibly. Even so, in daily work, we still have to experience the blame of the parties involved in the case, the loss of being criticized and educated if we fail to meet the strict requirements of the teacher, and the helplessness of not being able to take time to accompany our family because of work.
has entered the third year of graduate school, and the focus of study and work has shifted to scientific research experiments and graduation design. With his own efforts and the help of his teachers and classmates, Li Xuerong published four papers in the core journal in , including two first authors, one second author and one co-author.
In June 2018, Li Xuerong graduated from the West China School of Basic Medicine and Forensic Medicine of Sichuan University and obtained a master's degree in forensic medicine (forensic pathology).

Talk about work experience:
Naked female corpse was found in an abandoned cave
When I arrived at the scene, I found something strange
In Li Xuerong's view, forensic doctor is not a cold profession. On the contrary, it brings the last tenderness of the world to the deceased. Forensic doctor can be said to be the most "dirty" and "stinky" police type in the public security. Women will face more and more difficulties and prejudice when becoming forensic doctors. But even so, Li Xuerong never regrets her choice. She is wise, dedicated, brave, knowledgeable and highly professional. She repeatedly uses her professional knowledge to endorse the deceased, seek power for the living, and assists the criminal police in solving many unsolved and important cases.
On January 19, 2010, a murder occurred in the jurisdiction. Although all comrades in the technical brigade performed on-site investigation and autopsy, due to technical limitations at that time, they could not directly investigate the key suspects. With the establishment and improvement of Chengdu's "DNA" library, the person related to the DNA data of the suspect at the scene of the case was discovered in November 2021. After obtaining this clue, Li Xuerong went to Tianfu New District to conduct family investigation and blood samples collection work. Among the blood samples collected, after examination, it was found that a man, Liu, might be a relative of the suspect. In order to alarm the suspect before early, Li Xuerong thought actively and disguised himself as a staff member of the relevant department. In the name of investigation, he calmly completed the blood sample collection. Later, he was successfully determined to match the DNA of the suspect Liu, and the case was successfully solved and Liu was arrested. In this case, Comrade Li Xuerong took on key tasks in the final collection of the suspect's DNA information, and completed the task with a serious and responsible attitude.
In the tense and high-intensity daily work, in addition to the serious and busy inspection work, Li Xuerong has also encountered funny cases that make people laugh and cry. On February 25, 2022, the branch technical brigade received a notice from Zhonghe Police Station that a naked female corpse was found in the compartment under the abandoned sofa in a cave in Zhonghe.
After receiving the message, Li Xuerong also went to the scene. Female corpse, cave, partition... Several keywords have been made up for a major case, and the psychological activities are still continuing. When I pulled open the partition with my hand, I found that there was an abandoned doll inside. The police officer at the scene couldn't hold back after looking at each other, and everyone's heart was finally relieved. It turned out that because the person who called the police went to the cave to urinate, he had not had time to see clearly when he pulled the partition, he was so scared that he ran out of the cave quickly and called the police...

talked about his work insights:
Education is just an experience
must transform knowledge into practice
In March 2021, since Li Xuerong joined the police force, he has participated in the investigation and handling of five major cases (incidents). As the first participant and the person in charge of the incident, he quickly and timely completed important work such as on-site investigation, body/live injury situation inspection, situation description writing, and comprehensive report materials sorting. The family members of the case expressed satisfaction with the work situation and the handling results.
Since coming to the technical brigade in May 2021, as a police auxiliary, he has undertaken a lot of daily forensic work, actively completed relevant data statistics, report sorting, on-site case sorting and restoration of forensic corpses, etc., and also made full use of his professional knowledge and academic skills to make suggestions for improving the professional level of the technical brigade and do his best to contribute his own strength in the construction of criminal investigation technology hardware.
has undertaken a lot of work in this year's technical room and laboratory qualification certification and four assessments, and has applied for scientific research projects such as metabolomics , virtual anatomy, etc.
In Li Xuerong's view: "Master's degree" is not an identity or a threshold, but just an experience or a ability. "Master's degree" and "auxiliary police" are not opposite each other, but are integrated and complementary. Li Xuerong's cognition and awareness of a master's degree in serving as an auxiliary police officer.
Li Xuerong uses every inspection to piece together the truth about death, respect the dead and comfort the living. She interprets the responsibility of the auxiliary police and realizes her self-worth with excellent professional ability, excellent comprehensive qualities, and excellent way of thinking.
