The former site of the Southern Working Committee of the Communist Party of China was once the command center of the Communist Party of China's revolutionary activities in the Fujian-Guangdong-Jiangxi Border Region. It is known as the "Little Yan'an in the South". Its establishment has made great contributions to the War of Resistance Against Japan and the liberation of China.

82 years ago, after the Japanese army controlled the central and eastern and western wings of Guangdong, they launched countless military attacks or sweeps across the province to expand their strategic strongholds, open up transportation lines and seize economic resources.
Except for Xingmei counties, most counties and cities in Guangdong were occupied and invaded by the Japanese army. After the Japanese army occupied Guangdong, they used their main forces to attack the Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army on the battlefield behind enemy lines, and implemented a strategy of political inducing and supplementing military strikes against the Kuomintang.
The Kuomintang’s policy shifted from external to internal, and determined that “military restrictions should be the main focus and political restrictions should be the auxiliary focus”. The Kuomintang diehards set off the first anti-communist climax in the country.
In 1940, the Kuomintang spies stepped up surveillance and tracking of the Southern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee located in Chongqing. In order to ensure that the Southern Party’s work is still led by leaders when the leadership of the Southern Bureau is damaged. With the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, it was decided to establish the Southern Working Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Southwest Working Committee. As two major dispatched agencies under the Southern Bureau, they will lead the Party organizations of South China and the Southwest Provinces respectively.
In November of that year, the Southern Working Committee of the Communist Party of China (hereinafter referred to as the "Southern Committee") was established, representing the Southern Bureau to lead the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, the Northern Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, the Southern Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, the Qiongya Special Committee, the Southern Hunan Special Committee, the Chaomei Special Committee, the Minxi Special Committee, the Southern Fujian Special Committee, the Guangxi Working Committee, the Dapu County Party Committee and the Fujian Guangdong and Jiangxi Border Committee.
The leaders of the South Committee are composed of Fang Fang, Zhang Wenbin, Tu Zhennong, Guo Qian, Wang Tao, etc. The South Committee is located in Dapu. In September 1941, the Secretary of the Southern Committee Fang Fang (pseudonym Wang Zihua) and Comrade Huang Weili from Dapujiao New Village, Fenglang Town, joined forces. The Southern Committee was transferred from Gongzhou to the small house on the right of Huang Weili's "River Water Flowing Hui" in Dapujiao New Village, Fenglang Town.
Fang Fang lives in Huang Weili's old house with Zheng Xiaoping, Xu Ying (Xu Yunsong), Chen Jinqing and others. At the same time, based on the secret radio station of Wuqishan South Committee of Changlexia Village, Pinghe County, Fujian Province, another backup station was secretly set up in Nanshan, Baihou Town (usually collecting news information from Yan'an).
At that time, the secret trafficker Comrade Dai Lihua disguised himself as he picked up salt and walked the mountain road from Changle, Pinghe County, Fujian Province, and went through hardships to transport the radio station to the "Qinnanxuan" of Baihou Nanshan.
The South Committee not only established a secret radio station, opened secret transportation lines and set up transportation stations, but also participated in the "Hong Kong Secret Rescue" renowned at China and abroad, successfully rescued more than 800 patriotic democratic figures and cultural figures in Hong Kong, and led anti-Japanese armed forces in Dongjiang, Qiongya and other places to participate in the war of resistance, making important contributions to the united front work in South China and the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan.

The reason why the Southern Working Committee is located in Tai Po is not only a good natural environment that is suitable for hidden struggles, which is densely populated and heavily watered, and is connected to western Fujian, but also has certain historical reasons.
Gan Haiyang, deputy director of the Party History Research Office of the Dapu County Party Committee, introduced that the party organization in Dapu was strong and powerful during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and the people of the Soviet area accumulated rich experience and advanced ideas in carrying out the struggle. The advantages of natural geography, the strength of the party organization, the mass base, etc. provide good conditions for the establishment of the Southern Working Committee in Tai Po.
In early June 1942, Guo Qian, the former Organization Minister of the Southern Committee, was arrested and rebelled in Qujiang, Shaoguan, and led the Kuomintang spies to destroy the Northern Guangdong Provincial Committee and led Zhuang Zifang, the spy leader of the Central Commission for Jiangxi, to Dapu, in an attempt to secretly destroy the Southern Committee.
On the morning of June 6, Zhuang Zifang and his party arrived at Gaopi Town at 14:00. When the enemy searched, the old house was empty, so he ransacked Tiancheng Business. The enemy originally wanted to enter the back of the pen, but saw the mountains and trees high, and heard that there were armed forces, so he rushed back to Gaopi with Zeng Youshen and Wang Yahua at night.
