Scottish tourism businesses engaged directly with tour operators, travel consultants and tour operators representing major global markets in an online meeting earlier this month to once again drive bookings from overseas visitors.

Discover Scotland: Reconnect 2022 is part of VisitScotland’s campaign to rebuild international tourism demand and is one of the important promotion activities to promote Scotland as a trusted tourism destination.

During a three-day online event earlier this month, a total of 324 Scottish businesses engaged with 298 international travel providers and tour operators from 21 global markets. A total of 24 representatives of China Travel Agency participated in this online negotiation event.

’s online platform facilitated 4,455 negotiations through one-on-one meetings, highlighting new and well-known local tourism products in Scotland.

While international visitor arrivals account for a fifth of all visitors to Scotland, they account for more than 40% of total spending. China is one of Scotland's most important international tourist markets. In 2019, 172,000 people from China visited Scotland, spending £142 million. *
