In 1923, the tomb of Zheng Guojun Ziying was discovered in Lijialou, South Street, which caused a sensation at home and abroad. Among them, a pair of bronze lotus and crane square pots were rare treasures. In 1971, a cache of Korean weapons was discovered in Baimiaofan Village. In 1997, 2008 and 2017, the Zhengguo sacrificial ruins project, the Huzhuang King Han Tomb excavation project, the Zhenghan Gucheng North Gate excavation project, and the Zhengguo noble cemetery pit No. 3 excavation project were respectively rated as the top ten new archaeological discoveries in the country that year.

Archaeological excavations that have shocked China and the unearthing of batches of rare cultural relics have greatly promoted the academic research on Zhenghan's Ancient City and laid a solid foundation for the protection and display of the great ruins of Zhenghan's Ancient City. At present, the archaeological work in the ancient city of Zhenghan is still in progress, and innovative measures such as public archaeological audience experience have been effectively implemented here.

The ancient city of Zhenghan was one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council in 1961. It is one of the first 36 major sites to be supported and protected by the state. It is also one of the 100 major archaeological discoveries in China in the 20th century. In 2013, the Ancient City of Zhenghan was officially included in the second batch of National Archaeological Site Park project approval lists, opening a new chapter in the development of the ancient city.

Xinzheng City insists on planning and leadership in protecting the ruins of the ancient city of Zheng and Han. According to the guiding ideology of the protection plan, the Xinzheng Municipal Cultural Relics Department commissioned the preparation of the Zhenghan Ancient City Archaeological Site Park master plan. Under the strategic layout of the master plan, the "Zheng Guo Noble Tomb Museum Protection Project Design Plan" and other engineering plans were compiled.
