Chiayi City-Huiyi Forest Village
Chiayi started out as a forestry industry because it owned the precious forest land of Alishan. This Huiyi Forest Village was the official dormitory built during the forestry development of Alishan during the Japanese occupation. Originally called "Hinoki Town", it was later renamed "Hinoki-Yi-ri" and then to the present-day "Hinoki-Yi Forest Living Village". It has experienced ups and downs along the way and is the most complete preserved Japanese-style dormitory group in Taiwan. Today's "Hinoki-Yi" Forest Village, which combines food, culture, and souvenir shops, has become a rich tourist attraction! One of the dormitories inside was once the filming scene of the movie "KANO". You can also try on kimonos in the village. In addition, you can also taste a variety of meals. Meishan Township-Ruili Scenic Area Yanzi Cliff
In the Meishan Township area of Chiayi, there is a secret place known as the "Taiwan Dunhuang Grottoes" - Yanzi Cliff. After years of accumulation and erosion by wind and rain, the geology of the overlapping layers of rocks is full of pits and holes, which perfectly reflects the uncanny workmanship of nature! In the past, many swallows built their nests here, hence the name Swallow Cliff. Now there are no traces of swallows. In fact, to witness this spectacular scenery, you must first walk on a section of Qingnianling Trail, and along the way you will also pass the Thousand-Year Bat Cave, Yuntan Waterfall and other scenic spots, if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world, climb up the Yanzi Cliff. Zhuqi Township-Fengchi Lake
Fenchi Lake is the relay station of Alishan Forest Railway . People who don’t know it think it is famous for its lake, but in fact “lake” means low-lying land in Taiwanese! The old streets around Fenqi Lake have a rich antique color. In the slightly humid weather, you can still see the beautiful scenery of mountains in the distance. Outside the snack and souvenir shops in the old streets, there are also wooden clogs, one of the characteristics. Buying a pair of clogs engraved with your name can be a good souvenir. In addition to these, you must eat Fenqihu bento when you go to Fenqihu, especially the iron-clad style that tastes more delicious! There are also traces of fireflies from March to May. Fenchi Lake, which encompasses many unique features, is worthy of the reputation of "Jiufen of Southern Taiwan".
Alishan Township- Alishan National Forest Recreation Area
I believe that many people come to Chiayi for Alishan, right? But which mountain is Alishan? It is actually made up of eighteen mountains, with a vast area and numerous attractions! Among them, Alishan's three famous activities are firefly viewing, cherry blossom viewing and sunrise viewing. In addition to these, it is also great to have a good visit to Alishan Forest Recreation Area. The spectacular sight of sacred trees dating back thousands of years, or passing by the clear and green sister pools and waterfalls. Although it takes a lot of effort to walk down the entire park, it is absolutely refreshing.
Buy a ticket for a specified date at the Chiayi Railway Station ticket office. A one-way ticket for the Zhushan Line is $30. The train departs between 4 a.m. and 4:10 a.m., so be sure to arrive at the station early and line up to go up the mountain. The total journey takes about 25 minutes. When returning from Zhushan, you can choose to walk all the way back to Chaoping Station. There will be signs along the way, or you can buy a ticket at Zhushan Station to take the bus back to Chaoping Station, and then start visiting the forest recreation area from Chaoping Station.

Budai Town - Zhounan Salt Field, Budai Salt Field
Fishing and salt have been the industries that have made Chiayi Budai prosperous since the Qing Dynasty. The Zhounan Salt Field was opened more than a hundred years ago and became an important salt production place in Taiwan. However, later there was too much salt Imported and sold, the saltworks were subsequently abandoned. It was promoted by the Budaizui Association seven years after it was abandoned, combining tourism, education and culture. Visitors here can experience the process of sun-drying salt in the past, enjoy the surrounding ecology, and taste the splendor of the once prosperous industry in the past!
