This open competition lasted for 10 days from December 6 to 16. It adopted the latest FIDE rules and a nine-round Swiss-made competition system to calculate international ratings. From 15 countries and More than 100 outstanding chess players from the region participated. The average grade score of the open group is as high as 2,300 points. It is the international open competition with the largest number of participating countries, the largest number of people, the highest prize money, and the highest level among similar competitions in China.

Danzhou and chess became associated seven years ago. The China Chess Association, the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publishing and Sports and the Danzhou Municipal People’s Government jointly founded the China Hainan Danzhou Chess Super Tournament.
