TSMC has been working hard to expand production to address the global chip shortage. Although its construction progress in other parts of the world has been slow, the results in Taiwan have been remarkable.

According to Nikkei Asia, after TSMC completed four new factories in an industrial park in Tainan City, the company is starting to build four more wafer factories. It is reported that the construction of each factory will cost TSMC approximately US$10 billion. The four new factories are said to be equipped with production lines for producing 3-nanometer chips. Products produced in these factories in the future may include Apple , Qualcomm , and MediaTek SoCs.

TSMC announced on Friday that it plans to achieve mass production of 2-nanometer process chips by 2025. The four factories are just part of the company's plan to build more factories in Taiwan. Currently, TSMC has at least 20 factories under construction or just completed in Taiwan. These projects have a total construction area of more than 2 million square meters.

In fact, TSMC is not just building factories in Taiwan. It currently has construction projects in Japan and the United States. For example, a US$12 billion Arizona factory project is expected to be completed in March 2023.
