In his anger, he pulled the cannon to Qianfo Mountain and threatened to bombard the sky with a cannon if it didn't rain again. I wonder if it was a coincidence or the Jade Emperor was afraid of him. I heard that it really rained heavily. The following is his poem "For the Rain":
Grandpa Yuhuang is also surnamed Zhang, why is it difficult for me to Zhang Zongchang? If it doesn't rain for three days, first grab the Dragon Emperor Temple and then bombard your mother with big cannons.
Once he took Cui Xiazi, Pan Fu, Zhang Jinhua, Li Hongyan and others to climb Mount Tai. From afar, Mount Tai is magnificent and majestic, and then the poems will flourish,If you want to use pen and ink, you can sing the paper and chant a seven-character poem. The title is "Ying to Mount Tai", the poem says:
Looking at Mount Tai in a distance, it is dark, thin on the top and thick on the bottom. If Taishan is turned upside down, the head should be thin and thick.
After writing, Zhang Zongchang was full of energy, and asked the left and right: "How is this poem?" Most of the followers did not understand the poem, shaking their heads and chanting repeatedly, repeatedly applauding. Even if there is a little knowledge of poetry, no one takes the risk. Sweeping the supervisor's happiness, he echoed and applauded. Zhang Zongchang saw everyone applaud in unison, so he asked Pan Fu: "Pan Fu, you read poetry and books with literacy and hyphenation. To tell the truth, how is this poem?"
Pan Fu didn't expect it. See Zhang Zongchang Ask a question, think a little, and say: "Although the commander came from a military background, he has been studying in a division and he has been advancing with each passing day. Not only does he have the skill of piercing Yang with a hundred steps, he can also use his marksmanship. Poetry." "Is that true?" Zhang Zongchang asked again. "Right." Pan Fu nodded and said that blind Cui was caught and smiled.
Zhang Zongchang listened to Pan Fu’s comments and believed it to be true and was overwhelmed with joy. So he asked a craftsman to make a huge horizontal plaque and placed the poem in Bixia Palace on the top of Mount Tai.
Of course, Zhang Zongchang's poems also criticized the society at that time, such as "Bastard Poems":

In addition to the ridiculous and reckless actions in the legend, if you can carefully look at some historical materials, you can also discover that Zhang's actions are not completely unremarkable. Besides, Zhang Zongchang paid great attention to the development of education when he was in charge of Shandong in 1926. He hired Wang Shoupeng, the number one scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, as the director of Shandong Education with a high salary. He also respected talents.
Despite financial difficulties and tight military expenditures, Zhang Zongchang was still keen on establishing higher education. In his bid report to the Ministry of Education, he said: "Education is the fundamental cause of the country, and Qilu is the capital of sages and sages. It will take 30 years to stop the imperial examinations and start the school, and the highest institution is still filling the gap. It is not a pity." It is a pity to realize that there is no highest institution in the land of Confucius and Mencius. Under the general's order, six public colleges were merged and Shandong University was established in Jinan. The official name of "Shandong University" in history should have been since then.
