Chen Duxiu's first wife is Gao Dazhong. Her father was a general in the late Qing Dynasty. Therefore, she received education since childhood to be loyal to the emperor and patriotism, and her thoughts are relatively traditional. After marrying Chen Duxiu, Gao Dazhong gave birth to three sons and one daughter. Originally, the relationship between the couple was still good. After Chen Duxiu embarked on the revolutionary path, Gao Dazhong did not support this, and the differences between the two became increasingly greater. Soon after, Chen Duxiu ran away from home, and Gao Dazhong took care of his parents-in-law and several children in his hometown.
At the beginning, several children did not understand the father's approach. Later, as they grew older and their experience increased, they all understood what the revolution mentioned in their fathers meant to the working people. Under the influence of Chen Duxiu, the eldest son Chen Yannian and the second son Chen Qiaonian both participated in the revolution and held important positions. During this period, Chen Qiaonian also met his true love Shi Jingyi. After marriage, he had a son named Chen Hongwu. After the failure of the Great Revolution , Chen Qiaonian was sent to work in Jiangsu by the organization. At that time, the Kuomintang spy activities were very rampant, and many underground party organizations were destroyed, and people were arrested by spies almost every day. Working under such a sinister situation, no one knows whether something will happen tomorrow. But Chen Qiaonian did not retreat in the face of danger, but moved forward bravely and worked in the National Defense District with greater perseverance and enthusiasm. In February 1928, Chen Qiaonian was unfortunately arrested due to a traitor betrayal.
After learning that he was Chen Duxiu's son, the enemy was overjoyed and promised to be a high-ranking official and generous salary, trying to obtain useful information from him. After being rejected, the enemy became angry and used various tortures to force him to surrender. But no matter how severe the enemy tortures it, Chen Qiaonian did not reveal any secrets. In despair, the enemy brutally killed him. Before his death, Chen Qiaonian left his last words: "Let our descendants enjoy the happiness that our predecessors have overcome all obstacles!"
After Chen Qiaonian was arrested, his wife Shi Jingyi and her son Chen Hongwu ran around and tried hard to rescue her husband. But the enemy was very strict in taking care of Chen Qiaonian, and the organization thought of many solutions but failed. Shortly after Chen Qiaonian's death, his son Chen Hongwu unfortunately died of illness. The successive blows made Shi Jingyi feel in pain and almost lost confidence in life. But at this time she had been pregnant for several months, and for the sake of the child in her womb, she gritted her teeth and persevered.
A few months later, Shi Jingyi gave birth to a girl named Chen Hong. At that time, Shi Jingyi also worked for the revolution and the enemy was also arresting her. For her safety, the organization decided to send her to the Soviet Union to study. The journey from Shanghai to the Soviet Union was very far away. Chen Hong was only a few months old and could not bear the thrusts along the way. Even though Shi Jingyi was reluctant to leave, she could only leave her daughter. After being introduced by someone, she entrusted her to a young couple named Miao in Anhui to raise her on their behalf.
This couple changed Chen Hong's name to Miao Yu, and they were also very good to her. But soon after, the couple fell ill and almost used up all their savings at home. At this time, I was no longer able to raise Xiao Miaoyu, so I had to hand it over to , , and raising her. At the age of 16, Miao Yu joined the New Fourth Army, and later joined the Third Field Army, and liberated Fujian with the troops. After that, she settled in Fujian and worked in Fuzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau after the founding of New China. After Shi Jingyi returned from the Soviet Union, she inquired about her daughter everywhere, but at this time the couple surnamed Miao had already died of illness and she lost the clues she was looking for.
Shi Jingyi was still obsessed with her daughter Chen Hong before her death, and repeatedly told her brother-in-law Yang Xianru to help her get her daughter back. Yang Xianru was a member of the CPPCC at the time. He knew many friends, so he asked someone to inquire from many sources and published an article in the newspaper titled "Where is Chen Hong in the World of the World" in a newspaper, introducing in detail the birth and foster care. After many efforts, in 1994, it was finally confirmed that Miao Yu was Chen Hong, the posthumous daughter of Chen Qiaonian. She was already 66 years old at this time.
In the spring of this year, after Chen Hong recognized his ancestors, he came to the Longhua Martyrs Cemetery in Shanghai to pay homage to his father Chen Qiaonian with his relatives.Although her father had already died before she was born, Chen Hong has become familiar with her father's deeds these days. She is proud and proud of having such a father, and also deeply regretful that she failed to meet her father. In front of the tomb of Martyr Chen Qiaonian, 66-year-old Chen Hong burst into tears: "Dad, I'm here to see you." Everyone present burst into tears.
